The Bold and the Beautiful News Update: Darin Brooks Star Becomes a Groomzilla

Wyatt Spencer’s only been to the altar a few times on The Bold and the Beautiful, but in a movie airing in UPtv later this month, he plays a groom-to-be unlike no other. Is his character high-maintenance? Let’s just say the flick’s title says it all – Groomzilla!

The film tells the story of Tucker (Brooks) and Alyssa (Kimberly Jeppson), who have been dating for four years, and now, the pair is going to the next level by getting married.

While sometimes the bride can get meticulous over wedding details, this particular film shows the groom getting high-strung about the ceremony and its every last detail after coming under the spell of his grandmother’s (played by the late Georgia Engel, who played Georgette on The Mary Tyler Moore Show) very unique engagement ring.

The film also stars daytime vet Mark Derwin (ex-Adrian, The Young and the Restless; ex-Mallet, Guiding Light; ex-Ben, One Life to Live) as Mickey and Kate Vernon (ex-Lorraine, Falcon Crest) as Olivia.

The vehicle and setup sound perfect for Brooks’ lovable persona and deft comedic timing. The actor first came to the attention of soap fans when he played Max Brady on Days of our Lives, the role that earned him a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Younger Leading Actor in 2009.

After exiting DAYS, the actor landed the show Blue Mountain State. It was on that series that he met Kelly Kruger (ex-Mac, YR). The two began dating and wed in 2016. Kruger reprised Mac a while back and has also recurred as Eva, Forrester International’s ace publicist on BB.

Groomzilla is written by Darren O’Hare and Cara J. Russell and was directed by Bradford May. Groomzilla premieres on UPTV on Friday, June 12 at 9 pm ET and on Sunday, June 14 at 5 pm. The Bold and the Beautiful airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
