The Bold and the Beautiful News Update: Jacob Young On Country Music Nostalgia

As fans of Jacob Young know, the former star of The Bold and the Beautiful isn’t only an actor — he’s a musician, too. Recently, he shared a treasured possession from the music world that’s near and dear to his heart.

“Feeling a bit nostalgic about Waylon Jennings today,” Young posted on Instagram. In the post below, you can see there’s not just any Jennings-themed item in the background. “BTW: the jacket behind me was his personal tour jacket. (No, it’s not for sale).

“My dear friend @eileenhargis1 who was personal friends with the ‘The Man’ gave me this,” Young explains. “The story is that he always had his tag on the inside marked TM for ‘The Man’ so it wouldn’t get confused with anyone else’s on tour. This jacket is marked TM. I love you Eileen and I will forever treasure it! Xoxo 🤗 @officialwaylon #waylonjennings #Blackrose.”

Jennings, born in 1937, was named Male Vocalist of the Year in 1975 by the Country Music Association. His debut single in 1959 was titled Joe Blon. He went on to record numerous songs including MacArthur Park (with The Kimberlys), I’m a Ramblin’ Man, Just to Satisfy You (with Willie Nelson), and I Know About Me, I Don’t Know About You.

He also was well known for singing the theme song, Good Ol’ Boys, for the hugely popular series Dukes of Hazzard, in which he was seen as The Balladeer in all but two episodes. It ran from 1979-1985 and starred Tom Wopat, John Schneider, and Catherine Bach (ex-Anita, The Young and the Restless).

In 2001, Jennings was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. He passed away in 2002. Five years later, the Academy of Country Music posthumously awarded the Cliffie Stone Pioneer Award.

Young released his first self-titled CD Jacob Young in 2001. He has continued his music career on and off ever since. Earlier this year, Young released the single Lovin it, available on iTunes and other places where you can purchase and stream music. Young exited the role of Rick in 2018. He’s appeared sporadically on classic BB episodes over the last few weeks. The Bold and the Beautiful airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
