The Bold and the Beautiful News: Jacob Young Lands An Exciting New Role

Jacob Young has hinted at a new role in some social media posts and now, word has come out that The Bold and the Beautiful alum has been cast in a new film. Fans of the actor will recognize one of his co-stars from another of his shows — All My Children.

Jacob Young: Career Moves

Young, best known to CBS fans as Rick on BB, and Trent Garrett (ex-Asher, AMC) have been cast, respectively, as brothers Danny and AJ Taylor in the film Short Track Saturday Night. Danny’s a former racecar driver, now a paraplegic, who is fighting both depression and alcoholism.

Meanwhile, AJ, who once idolized his brother, dreams of racing in NASCAR, but can he get past the accident that left his brother in a wheelchair? Singer/songwriter/actress Celeste Kellogg appears in the film, too. Ritchie Greer is the movie’s writer/director. Greer is also an actor, having appeared on One Tree Hill. His directing credits include the films The Electrician and Underdog. He’s written the movies Lost and Found and Weekend Warriors.

Rick, Young’s BB character, emerged as the show’s new young leading man when he was cast on The Bold and the Beautiful back in late 1997. He stayed on the show for less than two years before leaving for other opportunities. He didn’t stray far from daytime, though. First, he became General Hospital’s Lucky, which earned him a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Younger Leading Actor in 2002. Next, he took on the role of JR Chandler on AMC. He remained with that show until its end in 2011.

Garrett played Asher during AMC’s final year. Asher was linked romantically with Colby Chandler (Natalie Hall). Young and Garrett shared screen time in Pine Valley as JR and Asher teamed up to bring down Caleb Cooney (Michael Nouri). Now, the two actors will share the screen again, this time in Short Track Saturday Night, scheduled for a late 2021 release date. The Bold and the Beautiful airs weekdays on CBS.
