If awards were given out to savvy social media users, Denise Richards would need a new mantle for her accolades. The Bold and the Beautiful star recently posted a story about a personal health issue, hoping to educate her followers on the importance of taking care of oneself.

Richards (who’s steaming up the screen as BB’s Shauna) shares that she got so busy with her life as a wife, mother, and actress/reality show star that she neglected her own health, and, in time, she came to realize she shouldn’t have.

“My hubby [Aaron Phypers] posted this and I need to actually thank him for taking such great care of me,” Richards posted. “This was a couple months ago and turned out to be a good lesson for me to always listen to my body. Being a mom, wife, and having a career sometimes it’s easier to just be strong and power through, I thought the pain & my other symptoms would just go away.”

Alas, the pain and symptoms did not subside. Richards was diagnosed with having a two femoral and two inguinal hernias. “I waited way too long and didn’t even tell my husband how bad I was feeling (I know it was stupid) … gotta always listen to our bodies & take care of ourselves.”

Phypers weighed in on the issue, too, via his social media account. “To the most incredible woman my soulmate,” Phypers began. “I am always in awe of your Beauty perseverance, dedication in all you do. These photos taken a couple of months ago from an emergency procedure femoral hernia not one but four! 6 hours waiting close by. Love you baby every day getting stronger!”

Soap Hub wishes Richards a continued recovery and applauds her using her platforms, where she reaches over 2 million followers, to remind people to listen to their bodies and take care of their health. The Bold and the Beautiful airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.

I’m so grateful to @herniadoc & her fabulous team. I thought I had one femoral hernia, I actually had 2 femoral & 2 inguinal. And I waited way too long & didn’t even tell my husband how bad I was feeling (I know it was stupid) … gotta always listen to our bodies & take care of ourselves. #Repost @aaronwilliamcameron ・・・ To the most incredible woman my soulmate.
