It’s that time of year again when the Daytime Emmy nominations are announced. The full list for the 2026 awards has been revealed, with some major snubs that have fans talking.

Key Takeaways

  • General Hospital didn’t get a Lead Actress Nomination.
  • Jane Elliot was not nominated for one reason only.
  • Beyond the Gates scored big but had a couple of major misses.

Lack of Acting Nominations for GH

General Hospital was on fire last year, especially with the tribute episodes to Leslie Charleson (Monica) that focused on Monica’s passing. However, the show didn’t earn as many acting nominations as in previous years.

In fact, the ABC soap didn’t have a single actress in the Lead Actress category, which was a huge surprise. GH often has more than one nod in the category. Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis) took home the trophy at the 2025 awards show.

Jane Elliot (Tracy) seemed like a sure thing for the category because of her performance during Monica’s death, but she was not on the list. However, the reason had nothing to do with Elliot’s incredible acting talent. Elliot no longer submits for the nomination.

GH also didn’t have an acting nod in the Supporting Actor category. Again, a surprise considering Rory Gibson (Michael) came in hot as a recast and was phenomenal all year long.

Overall, GH earned six acting nominations. Steve Burton (Jason) for Lead Actor, Amanda Setton (Brook Lynn) for Supporting Actress, Braedyn Bruner (Emma) and Giovanni Mazza (Gio) in Emerging Talent, and Jeff Kober (Cyrus) and Eva LaRue (Natalia) in the Guest Actor category.

Beyond the Gates Hits and Misses

It wasn’t a surprise that Beyond the Gates killed with nominations. The new CBS soap came out the gate swinging and didn’t miss a beat all year long in its first season.

Not only did BTG score a very deserving nod for Outstanding Daytime Drama series, but it also earned 8 acting nominations, only one behind The Young and the Restless, which had the most.

However, Clifton Davis (Vernon) was snubbed in the Lead Actor category, and it was a huge miss. Davis more than proved he deserved it with so many great arcs in the first season of the soap, but especially the Sundown Town storyline. Davis and Brandon Claybon (Martin) both delivered Emmy-worthy performances during that storyline, honestly. Neither of them got one, and it’s a major snub.

Another miss for BTG was Jon Lindstrom (Joey). The actor has been on daytime for decades. That’s not why he should have gotten a nomination. Lindstrom kills it as Joey in every single scene he has, and he’s a joy to watch.

All in all, for the first year, BTG scored big, and every single nomination is well deserved.

More Snubs Worth Mentioning

There are other soap stars who should have made the list and didn’t.

Days of our Lives‘ Deidre Hall (Marlena) for the work she did during John’s (Drake Hoestyn) death was some of the most amazing work of her career. Hall wasn’t on the list, but it could be because she didn’t submit. The actress has been known not to submit herself for the coveted award.

Katelyn MacMullen (Willow) did her best work in 2025. When Willow lost custody of her kids to Michael and wasn’t allowed to see them, MacMullen delivered powerhouse performance after performance. From the courtroom breakdown to Willow breaking down in her wedding dress outside of Carly’s (Laura Wright), MacMullen was on fire.

Sharon Case (Sharon) is another snub. When Sharon and Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) were kidnapped by Martin (Christopher Cousins), Case hit it out of the park. The actress has been playing Sharon for decades, but still manages to add layers to her character, as she did in the kidnapping storyline.
