Veteran fans of The Bold and the Beautiful recall Maitland Ward as Eric’s niece Jessica Forrester. She appeared on the show in the mid-90s and is also known for her run as Rachel on Boy Meets World. Now, she’s taking pen to paper to write about her Hollywood career.
Ward is set to write her memoir for Atria Books, a division of Simon & Schuster. The tome is titled “My Escape From Hollywood: Why I Left to Become a Porn Star.” The press release on the book describes it as a “steamy, no-holds-barred memoir chronicling everything from her days on the classic soap The Bold and The Beautiful, to her stint on popular ABC/Disney sitcom Boy Meets World, to her meteoric rise to porn stardom, and why she decided to kiss mainstream Hollywood goodbye.”
“I’m so excited to share stories of my life, and especially my start in acting and the business on The Bold and the Beautiful, which shaped so much about who I am as a performer,” Ward tells Soap Hub. “I know fans are going to love the fun, juicy behind-the-scenes stories. It’s been fun writing about and revisiting these places in my past that still mean so much to me.”
“Maitland’s witty, incisive voice drew all of us in from the first page,” says senior editor, Michelle Herrera Mulligan in a release. “Her rare perspective on the sexism she experienced first-hand in Hollywood, and the liberation she’s found in women-produced adult entertainment, will inspire, shock, and inform a generation eager to learn her story.”
In addition to her roles as BB’s Jessica and World’s Rachel, Ward also appeared as Brittany in the 2004 film White Chicks. She entered the world of cosplay, dressing up as super-heroines, and appeared at many comic book conventions.
In 2019, Ward entered the world of the adult entertainment industry. She took home the awards for Best Supporting Actress at the 2020 AVN Awards. She won two more AVN Awards this year including Best Leading Actress for the film Muse.
BB’s Jessica had lots to do during her tenure on the show. She battled Uncle Eric (John McCook) and Aunt Stephanie (Susan Flannery), who felt she was too young to be involved with Forrester Creations intern Dylan (Dylan Neal). Jessica was diagnosed with diabetes, was raped by Sly (Brent Jasmer), and nearly killed by him in a Bikini Bar blaze. Fortunately, Jessica was rescued. She left town to continue her education. The Bold and the Beautiful (BB) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
