Here’s What Happened Previously
Carter (Lawrence Saint-Victor) proposed to Hope (Annika Noelle) a while ago. She said yes with no hesitation, which is different from how she reacted when Thomas (Matthew Atkinson) proposed a little over a year before.
The two planned to start wedding preparations, but Liam (Scott Clifton) got sick. Carter was supportive of Hope spending time with Liam and their daughter as he lived out his remaining days.

Of course, it turned out that Grace (Cassandra Creech) had faked Liam’s brain tumor to scam him out of money with her “cure.” Liam realized after he learned he would live that he wanted to put his family with Hope back together. Hope tried to let him down easily, but it didn’t seem to get through to Liam that she wasn’t interested in starting their relationship again.
Interestingly, Liam did a bit of his own letting down easy recently. Ivy (Ashleigh Brewer) told him she wanted to try a relationship, but he told her he wanted his family reunited.
