Soap Opera Casting For The Week Of May 30, 2022

Here’s a list of the top exit and entrance news from all four daytime dramas. Find out if any of your favorite performers from yesteryear are returning to the shows you follow, or if any new actors or actresses have been cast in contract, recurring, or day player roles.

General Hospital

Two actors are out at General Hospital, although one is only temporary. Due to scheduling unavailability, Johnny Wactor is being briefly replaced by Brad Schmidt as Brando Corbin. Schmidt’s credits include Yellowstone and The Chosen. He also has a daytime past, having appeared on Guiding Light (as Todd) and As the World Turns (as Anthony) in 2002

In addition, Chris Van Etten has exited the soap opera as Chet Driscoll. According to Soap Opera Digest, the character’s story was cut short, because the actor and his family moved out of California. Van Etten debuted as Amy Driscoll’s (Risa Dorken) brother back in 2017.

Days of our Lives

Good news for Sami Brady DiMera fans. Alison Sweeney is returning to Days of our Lives for another story arc. Look for the character to arrive in town this summer and be involved in a plot with Bryan Dattilo (Lucas), Dan Feuerriegel (EJ), Martha Madison (Belle), and others. Sweeney last aired in 2021, when Sami moved back to Italy with Lucas.

The Bold and the Beautiful

Naomi Matsuda is back on The Bold and the Beautiful scene as Dr. Li Finnegan, the devoted mother who’s secretly caring for her comatose son Dr. John “Finn” Finnegan, portrayed by Tanner Novlan. She’ll air on Monday, May 30, Tuesday, May 31, and Wednesday, June 1.

The Price Is Right model Alexis Gaube returns to the soap opera as Forrester Creations model, Petra. She’ll appear on Wednesday, June 1.

The Young and the Restless

So much for Esther Valentine’s new romance. Sam McMurray’s short stint as Dwight has wrapped up on The Young and the Restless. The character debuted in mid-May.
