Deacon Sharpe, The Bold and the Beautiful
Now that Sean Kanan has returned to The Bold and the Beautiful, his character Deacon Sharpe is focused on building a relationship with his daughter Hope. However, Deacon has other relatives, too. It’s possible he could investigate familial ties with people other than Hope — namely, his son.
“I would love to explore the possibility of having, Deacon’s son, Little D. come on the canvas,” Sean Kanan tells Soap Hub, noting that The Bold and the Beautiful character “wouldn’t be so little anymore. He’s older than Hope.”
The story of Deacon’s son began when Amber (Adrienne Frantz) gave birth to her and Rick’s son, Little Eric. Tragically, their baby died at birth. Before Amber told Rick, she convinced her cousin Becky (Marisa Tait), a single mother, to give her and Rick the baby she’d just birthed. Rick believed that the boy Amber came home with was his.
After the truth came out, Becky wed C.J. (Mick Cain) and they were raising Eric together. Becky died and her final wish was for Amber and C.J. to raise her son. This didn’t sit well with Rick, who wanted custody of the boy. He struck up a deal with Deacon to come to town and claim the youngster. The storyline won Justin Torkildsen the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Younger Leading Actor for his role as The Bold and the Beautiful’s Rick.
Rick’s plan backfired after Deacon decided he wanted to keep his son. After being bounced around for a while, little Eric wound up back in Furnace Creek and was raised by Becky’s parents, Joe and Tillie. So, while Deacon is focused on Hope, his portrayer believes it’s possible that B&B will reintroduce Eric III. Field Cate was the last actor to play Deacon’s son. He appeared on The Young and the Restless in 2010 after Sean Kanan had taken his character to Genoa City.
