The Bold and the Beautiful recap for Monday, December 18, 2023, sees plenty of blame and regrets to go around while Eric lies in critical condition.
In addition, Luna and RJ exchanged “I Love Yous,” again. Finn and Steffy reconnected after the surgery. Zende and RJ’s war reignited. And a regretful Ridge made a game-changing decision.
After Finn (Tanner Novlan) recapped the entire surgery complete with complications and downward spirals, Ridge (Thorsten Kaye, find out which B&B stars won Emmys here!) continued to blame himself. Everybody tried to get him to see there was no need to go there. Finn insisted there were variables that Eric (John McCook) was unaware of — Eric may have changed his mind had he known about the experimental treatment.
As a result, Eric at least had a chance. However, stubborn Ridge wasn’t listening. He thought that maybe they should have let his dad go peacefully. On top of that, he can’t help thinking that he passed over. What if his dad wanted to stay there? But now, Eric’s trapped in his body, stuck there, attached to tubes, maybe for the rest of his days, because of him. He hopes his dad will understand his decision.

Later, Finn and Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) were alone in his office. He wanted to know how his wife was holding up. It’s been a lot; they almost lost Eric, and now there’s hope because of Finn. She still can’t believe her husband’s been working day and night trying to save her grandfather. Feeling all kinds of blame, Finn wished he could have figured it out sooner. Steffy wasn’t having it. Subsequently, she told him she loved him so much for trying to do everything in his power to save her grandad. At this point, however, there was nothing more he could do.
At Forrester Creations, Luna (Lisa Yamada) comforted RJ (Joshua Hoffman). She offered him optimistic and positive words while Zende (Delon de Metz) eavesdropped on their conversation, which included exchanging another round of “I Love You” and kisses. On his part, Zende pondered this development and then interrupted them. Zende just got back from the hospital. There was no change to Eric’s condition, and he was only able to see Eric through the window.
This is when the discussion got heated. Zende doesn’t understand Ridge’s hesitation over selecting the experimental treatment. He couldn’t believe Ridge could act that cold and heartless. Of course, RJ defended his dad’s actions. Luna just wanted them to remember Eric’s words, that he wanted everybody to get along. They should be supporting each other, not fighting each other. Zende decided to keep his opinions to himself, which RJ was cool with. Zende admitted he hates to think of Eric’s grand finale line remaining unfinished. It should be out there.
As Zende got to know Luna’s fashion origin story, the designer stated he wanted to do whatever it took to finish his grandad’s collection. It’s too bad he had no idea what was going on in the CEO’s office.
Back at Forrester Creations, Ridge and RJ talked. Ridge let his son know that this company was the most important thing in Eric’s life. And because of that, he wants RJ by his side as he works to keep things going at FC. Ridge ended up telling RJ that he wanted to finish Eric’s vision for his line. But there’s a problem. He wasn’t in the room when Eric’s line was created; RJ was. As a result, Ridge wanted to join forces with RJ and finish Eric’s line.
Meanwhile, Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) sat by Eric’s bedside where she cried over her father-in-law/ex-husband’s fate.
