In The Bold and the Beautiful recap for August 18, 2023, Liam takes it upon himself to remind Hope of all the terrible things that her current beau has put her through…as if she wasn’t there and doesn’t have the capacity to remember for herself.
In addition, Brooke waxed poetic about her daughter’s situation, and Ridge got all up in Steffy’s business — and she didn’t thank him for it. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what exactly happened.
Having practically been forced together by her well-meaning family, Hope (Annika Noelle) and Liam (Scott Clifton) retired to the cabin they once called home, bogged down with Beth’s surplus of presents.
Liam pitifully wondered if they’d done right by their daughter, and Hope insisted that they had. Their little girl is so happy. Well, she’ll be happy until they tell her about the impending divorce.

Oh yes, the divorce. Liam wanted to talk to Hope about that. First, there was the inevitable intrusion of the press. And then, the gossipmongering. Seven-year-olds talk, you know. And their mothers, especially. Liam would like to shield Beth as much as humanly possible.
Liam then pointedly wondered to Hope how she could turn to evil, evil Thomas (Matthew Atkinson) and let him come between them. This was a man who had been content to let her grieve her own daughter forever. A man who planned to go on allowing his own sister to raise Beth as her own.
But despite it all, despite the anger and the hurt, Liam still cares about and still loves Hope. And he wants, nay, needs, her to know that whatever happens between the two of them. she’s better than Thomas.
Over at the Forrester mansion, the assemblage agreed that Beth’s birthday party had been a smashing success. Still, Deacon (Sean Kanan) couldn’t help but worry how Beth would react to the news of her parents’ divorce.
Ever-chipper Brooke floated the idea that such news might never be imparted. No, Hope and Liam had fought too hard and cherished their family too much to just give in and call their marriage quits.
At Forrester Creations, Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) asked Steffy to confide her woes in him. He knows he’s no world-renowned psychologist like someone they both know, but he’s a good listener, and he can, on occasion, provide some pretty solid advice.
Steffy granted that it’s killing her to be away from her home and her husband, but she’s still so put off by the Sheila (Kimberlin Brown) of it all. How dare the villainess act like she has a claim to Finn (Tanner Novlan)? He’s Steffy’s. All Steffy’s.
Ridge assured Steffy that he’d do anything in his power to protect her and the children, prompting Steffy to muse that he sounds like Liam. That statement struck Ridge as odd. Why bring her ex up now? What’s going on between the two of them, exactly?
When Steffy hedged, Ridge revealed that Liam had admitted to still being in love with Steffy and that he wasn’t enamored of that. Steffy concurred. She has no interest in rekindling anything with her ex. NOTHING.
