In The Bold and the Beautiful recap for September 12, 2023, Katie takes it upon herself to disregard Eric’s feelings and talk up Ridge and his accomplishments.
In addition, Eric draws a line in the sand, and Brooke is tasked with delivering quite the message to her husband. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what exactly happened.
At Forrester Creations, Carter’s (Lawrence Saint-Victor’s) playing hardball with a client and speaking Italian (which she apparently confused with “business,” but whatever) got Katie (Heather Tom) all hot and bothered. But after a few kisses, it was time to talk about other people and recap their stories.
The two cooed about Ridge’s (Thorsten Kaye) latest designs and agreed that neither one was surprised. That guy is just so darn talented. Carter was quick to point out that couture was the backbone of the company because of Eric (John McCook), as the collection had always reflected his talent, commitment, and creativity.

When Carter relayed that he couldn’t imagine Forrester Creations without Eric, Katie reminded him that the “passing of the baton” to the second and third generation of Forresters had been going on for some time — and that’s the way that Eric wanted it.
Carter counters that Eric is still a vital member of the FC team, and Katie could but agree. Putting things in perspective, Kaite huffed that she just hoped the family had a “comprehensive succession plan” in place for the eventuality of Eric retiring. That’ll be necessary for the good of the company and the good of Eric and Ridge’s relationship.
Elsewhere, at the Forrester mansion, Eric reiterated to Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) that he didn’t want Ridge to have a hand in his final collection. He would do the designing with his grandson and his grandson only. He misses designing. He needs to design.
And as for Ridge, why would he want an assist from a man who doesn’t see him, who doesn’t appreciate him, who wants to shelve him permanently? Eric groused about how Ridge has been talking to him, talking down to him, treating him like a dinosaur.
Brooke insisted that Ridge admired and respected Eric, but Eric was having it. He declared that he was coming for Ridge and that his son had better be on top of his game.
Back at Forrester Creations — but in an office separate from the one Katie and Carter were occupying — Ridge complained to Thomas (Matthew Atkinson) how Eric was misinterpreting and taking exception to everything he’d said lately.
That granted, Ridge growled that HE was the one running the show and that Eric had asked him to do that, so that’s the way it’s going to be. Brooke entered and issued Eric’s warning.
