In The Bold and the Beautiful recap for August 21, 2023, Hope gets told what she should think, how she should feel, and who she should spend the rest of her life with.
Bold and the Beautiful Recap Highlights
In addition, Thomas got hammered from all sides, Brooke and Ridge had a bit of a disagreement, and Steffy seemed pretty uninterested in her ex’s life. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what exactly happened.
B&B Recap: Good Grief
Liam (Scott Clifton) asked Hope (Annika Noelle) to “step out of the fog” and see Thomas (Matthew Atkinson) for who he really is. Also, he asked her to explain to him how she could have any contact with the man whatsoever.
Sure, Thomas is a brilliant designer. But, and Liam asked this with all due respect, has Hope lost her damn mind? If her new lover had had his way, they wouldn’t have gotten the chance to celebrate their daughter’s birthday.

Liam then explained that he was worried about Hope and her judgment, and he begged her to lower her defenses momentarily, take a step back, view Thomas objectively, and recognize him for the very, very bad person that he is.
Sometime later, Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) swung by and began to harp on Hope to do the right thing, including fighting for her marriage to Liam. Hope granted her mother that she wasn’t sure what she was doing and why she’d done the things she’s done, and Brooke was sure that was a positive sign that Hope was back to her old self again. Oh, joyous day!

The Bold and the Beautiful Recap: Relationship Round Table
Meanwhile, at the Forrester mansion, Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) and Thomas engaged in small talk before the former hit the latter with a hard question. Steffy asked her brother what, exactly, was going on between him and Hope. Thomas did not have much of an answer.
What he could and did say was that all he wants is for Hope to be happy…and if that happiness is found with Liam, so be it. He’d be totally fine. Probably. Maybe.
Cut to Liam returning to Steffy’s side to…happily explain that he might just have gotten through to Hope about what scum Thomas was. Steffy looked real excited to hear that. NOT!
B&B Recap: Cut To The Quick
Ridge (Thorsten Kaye), having already had a terse conversation with Brooke over her interpretation of recent events — she’s a big proponent of Hope and Liam’s estrangement being down to Thomas — took the opportunity provided by Thomas’s visit to ask him a hard question. What, exactly, is going on between him and Hope? Thomas did not have much of an answer. Actually, he had no answer at all as the screen faded to black before he could speak.
