In The Bold and the Beautiful recap for October 5, 2023, Donna becomes the second person to betray Eric’s confidence.
In addition, Hope vomited a whole lot of personal information into Finn’s lap, and Sheila and Deacon confronted some cold hard truths. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what exactly happened.
At the Forrester mansion, Eric’s (John McCook) tremors worsened such that he could no longer tickle the ivories — a development which only served to worry Donna (Jennifer Gareis) further.
Upon joining the pair, RJ (Joshua Hoffman) found himself on the receiving end of copious praise and thanks courtesy of Eric. However, the two were soon in a mini clash over Eric’s desire to see diamonds added to each and every design.

Eric wondered if RJ’s reluctance meant he no longer believed in their ability to win, but RJ said it was purely a concern over rising costs.
After making a big speech about never cutting corners and/or sacrificing quality, speed, or cost (as if he was running a sweat shop full of undocumented immigrants a decade or so ago), Eric bowed out to swallow some medication, brood over his predicament, and cough up more blood.
Opposite, RJ begged Donna to be honest with him. Clearly, Eric’s problems were something more than arthritis plagued. Despite her promises, Donna confided that the doctors feared Eric was suffering from either cerebrovascular disease or TIAs.
Hope’s (Annika Noelle) arrival stopped Finn’s (Tanner Novlan) shirtless plodding around his and Steffy’s (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) home. She wanted to return a pillow that Kelly loved. Finn told Hope she was better than Thomas (Matthew Atkinson).
After hearing Hope out, Finn concluded that Hope was merely drawn to Thomas because he was totally focused on her and only her. (NO DUH!) Finn wondered whether or not she actually wants to be with Thomas…well, but Hope couldn’t answer. What she could do, however, was complian about her predicament and cry in Finn’s arms.
Meanwhile, Sheila (Kimberlin Brown) and Deacon (Sean Kanan) marveled at the fact that they were now engaged to be married. Sheila was fine with keeping the news on the down low for the foreseeable future, at least until they could decide how to tell their families.
She worried about how Hope would take the news, but Deacon felt certain he could talk his daughter around — eventually. Sheila hoped that the same would be true where Finn was concerned. If only her son could be free of Steffy and her influence. Then he’d actually be free to give her a second chance.
