In The Bold and the Beautiful recap for November 29, 2023, Eric’s rapidly declining health leads to a moment of quiet reflection between himself and his lady love.
In addition, Ridge’s loved ones come together to comfort him. He’s just soooooo sad that his dad is dying. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what exactly happened.
One minute, Eric (John McCook) was contemplating dying his latest creation fire engine red, and the next, he was pale, sweating profusely, and feeling faint. RJ (Joshua Hoffman) and Donna (Jennifer Gareis) managed to get him to his chair, and the latter insisted on phoning Dr. Colby (Justiin Davis).
Eric complained about the idea of being seen to by his physician. It’s not like his diagnosis is going to change. And his little “senior moment” was but a “blip on the diagnosis radar.” But Donna and RJ wouldn’t be deterred. They wanted to make sure that he was not in any danger.

The two then made the mistake of floating the idea that designing his collection wasn’t good for Eric, what with it depleting his energy and all. Eric bellowed that creating was the only thing keeping him going. That and teaching RJ and loving Donna. But mostly the designing.
Dr. Colby eventually appeared on the scene, just in time to witness Eric coughing up blood, and warned that all this was an indication of a more serious issue. The trio then admonished Eric for not taking better care of himself, but he waved off the concern. He’d merely forgotten to eat. A few crackers, and he would be fine. What he wasn’t going to do was slow down. He’s going to live his life the way he wants to. He’s going to live until he dies.
During a moment alone, Donna ensured that Eric knew how much she loved him (read John McCook talking about Eric and Donna here). Eric, in turn, granted that he knows how hard this has been on Donna. He thanked her for being so strong for him.
Across the hall, Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) and Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) assured Ridge that he was a good person — because only a good person and son would have let Eric think that he won the fashion challenge.
The three then bemoaned having to paint on a smile and pretend like they didn’t know that Eric was dying. Putting someone else’s feelings, wants, and needs above their own is so hard!
The pity party was broken up when RJ rushed in with news of Eric’s near collapse and the visit that Dr. Colby paid. Steffy raised the concern that Eric should never, ever be left alone, and RJ insisted that he never would be. Either he, Donna, or Katie (Heather Tom) would always be by Eric’s side. That mollified the group somewhat, but Ridge was still sore that Eric wouldn’t let them openly weep over him.
