Early in his career, Zach Roerig played Tom and Margo’s troubled son Casey on As the World Turns. He also had stints on Guiding Light as Alex and One Life to Live as Hunter, but now the former soap star is facing even more drama — off-screen — after being arrested for DUI over Memorial Day Weekend.
According to the gossip site TMZ, sources told them that in the wee hours of Sunday morning, the 35-year-old actor was pulled over in Montpelier, Ohio, because his truck was missing a front license plate. But when cops approached his vehicle, he reeked of booze, his eyes were bloodshot, and his speech was slurred.
They conducted sobriety tests but then the former Vampire Diaries star reportedly said, “This is very hard, I can’t do this when I’m f***ing …” and his voice trailed off. The cop asked what he meant, and TMZ was told Zach replied, “When I can’t have a beer.”
The police ended up booking him on a misdemeanor DUI charge. After spending the night, he was eventually released on his own recognizance. His arraignment is set for June 4. The site tried to reach out to Roerig for comment, but they still haven’t received any.
Roerig, who has just under a million followers to his Instagram account, hasn’t been very active on social media lately, with his last post appearing on March 7 to promote the season finale of his most recent series Dare Me. “We’ll never forget Sarge… Check out this behind-the-scenes photo from the set of #DareMeTV, and don’t miss the season finale TOMORROW at 10/9c on USA Network!” he wrote.
