The Bold and the Beautiful moved from one shocker to another in quick succession for a half-hour soap in which storylines often seem to move at a snail’s pace. However, Friday, April 1, 2022, broke from the norm.
This happened when Steffy Forrester Finnegan (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) went from arguing with Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown) in an alleyway to her husband John ‘Finn’ Finnegan (Tanner Novlan) making it to where his mother and his wife were having it out to Finn laying in a pool of his own blood as the show came to a close. As social media buzzed about it all weekend, the soap pulled out another shocker on Monday we barely saw coming.
As Steffy’s Friday wail, while she cried over her husband’s bloody body, turned into a Monday wail, we thought we would see her rage at Sheila, but instead, she had to stay silent as Sheila held a gun at her and then impulsively pulled the trigger, leaving both Steffy and Finn laying there with their lives on the line. But Steffy can’t die, right?
After all, she is a legacy character and one of the show’s leading heroines. This is not a character you can easily kill and get away with it, especially since B&B is still taking flack for killing her twin, Phoebe (Mackenzie Mauzy), 14 years ago. So, what is really going on here?
Could Steffy be dreaming all of this because so much of it seems so hard to believe? Why would Sheila not want to do everything to save the son she claimed to love so much that she was willing to do anything to get close to him? It made no sense for her to not at the very least call 911 rather than leave two bloody bodies lying outside Il Giordano. With other scenes in Monday’s episode being about Sheila, it’s possible Steffy even dreamed of her loved ones talking about her and her crazy mother-in-law. While that would be wild, we’re not sure if that is what is happening here.
It looks like Tanner Novlan may be out as Finn, but the soap has yet to confirm that, so he might pull through. However, having Finn die leaves lots of stories for Steffy after the fact. Then again, those stories might have to wait. As Jacqueline MacInnes Wood is pregnant with her third child and will be on maternity leave once again before we know it, Steffy might fall into a very long coma and wake to find that her husband is gone and then be determined to enact revenge on Sheila.
But there’s another possibility; if Steffy wakes with amnesia, it could be much juicier. Yes, amnesia is a typical soap trope, but so are long-lost children we never heard of, as well as extended comas. Imagine Steffy waking from her coma not even remembering being married to Finn and having his child. She might think she is still wed to Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton), which would turn the entire show upside down and awaken the latent, but always there, Steffy/Liam/Hope triangle that we thought was over. How silly of us because that will never, ever be over, will it? If Finn is dead, most likely not.
