Even before the shocking events of Friday’s episode (Sheila Carter shot John Finnegan!), Soap Hub had decided to bestow Performer of the Week honors upon two-time Daytime Emmy-winner Jacqueline MacInnes Wood for her portrayal of strong and decisive Steffy Forrester Finnegan. Her response to her husband Finn being shot sealed the deal — and broke our hearts!

Jacqueline MacInnes Wood – Performer of the Week

Re-integrating Sheila Carter back into society has been tricky on The Bold and the Beautiful. Kimberlin Brown brings a chilling presence to Sheila but the naughty nurse knows how to act like she’s truly changed and just wants to be loved. Otherwise, people wouldn’t be in the same room with her. Steffy, however, in the able hands of Jacqueline MacInnes Wood, isn’t fooled.

Steffy’s no fan of Brooke Logan Forrester’s (Katherine Kelly Lang) and she desperately wants her parents, Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye) and Taylor Hayes (Krista Allen), reunited. However, Wood brings too much integrity and honor to Steffy for her to allow that to happen by fraud. And, thanks to Sheila, that’s just what was about to occur if Steffy allowed her mother-in-law to get away with her scheme.

Sheila is more successful in manipulating men in her life. She knows how to charm them, kidnap them, blackmail them, and act coyly with them in order to get what she wants. A man is more likely to believe that Sheila has changed — but not Steffy. Jacqueline MacInnes Wood has carried on the mantel left behind by her late TV grandmother Stephanie Forrester (Susan Flannery). Steffy doesn’t give Sheila a moment to catch her breath when she goes on the offensive.

“I don’t want anything to do with you, Sheila, knowing that you’re thinking about my family — that is my worst nightmare,” Steffy said, ripping into her mother-in-law. “You’re just sick! You’re unhinged! You shot my mother! Maybe she can forgive you, but I can’t!”

Wood went on to give us all the feels as Steffy begged her husband Finn (Tanner Novlan), who took the bullet that Sheila intended for Steffy, to breathe, imploring him to live…! Talk about a ‘killer’ Friday tag!

Honorable Mention: Kudos to Kimberlin Brown for her continued run as Sheila. One moment, she makes you feel sorry for her as Sheila begs to be loved — the next, she’s got a gun to her daughter-in-law’s (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) head after having just shot her son. The trigger-happy woman, who wants the warmth of a loving relationship will likely never have one because she’s got ice in her veins.
