Soap Hub Performer Of The Week For B&B: Henry Joseph Samiri

Once again, Henry Joseph Samiri as his Bold and the Beautiful character Douglas Forrester is sitting on a big secret. He knows that his grandpa Ridge dumped grandma Brooke because of something that his father Thomas (not Brooke) did. For his performance as a young man, who wants others around him to do the right thing, Soap Hub bestows Performer of the Week for B&B honors upon Samiri.

Henry Joseph Samiri is a bit older since the Baby Beth storyline in which Douglas shared that Hope Logan Spencer’s (Annika Noelle) and Liam Spencer’s (Scott Clifton) daughter was really alive. The boy knew he was going against his father’s wishes, but Douglas knew he had to do the right thing. Samiri brings a touch of sadness to his role as Douglas in this storyline. He knows his father has not been a liar just once but now, he’s doing so a second time.

Samiri is busy acting even when Douglas doesn’t have anything to say. When the Forrester clan was celebrating Ridge Forrester’s (Thorsten Kaye) and Taylor Hayes’s (Krista Allen) engagement, Douglas sat there — shooting his father Thomas Forrester (Matthew Atkinson) the side-eye. Sadly, Douglas is having to be the grownup in his dynamic with his daddy dearest.

Thomas, who’s not exactly going to win any ‘Son of the Year’ or ‘Father of the Year’ awards, is doing his level best to convince Douglas that what he did was the right thing. He wants his son to believe that while Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) may not have made the call to Child Protective Services, she was certainly on the verge of doing so.

Douglas simply wasn’t buying it! Children don’t have much of a say in their lives. They have to stick to schedules, obey their parents, and eat all their vegetables — whether they want to or not. We see Samiri quietly display Douglas’s disappointment in his father and his trying to figure out what, if anything, he should say because he’s faced his father’s unbalanced wrath in the past.

One of the best parts of the performance turned in by Henry Joseph Samiri is that he plays Douglas knowing that he’s been down this road before with his dad. At times, kids look to grownups as people who shouldn’t repeat the same mistake. It’s almost as if Douglas is more disappointed in his father’s actions than he is sad over Brooke being wrongly dumped.

He loves both his grandmothers, which is probably causing Douglas cause for pause. However, he may want to hang onto grandma Taylor’s business card. Douglas is going to need some intense therapy from the world-renowned psychiatrist thanks to the mind games that have been played on him courtesy of his father.

Youngsters who are Douglas’s age are usually asked to be ring bearers at family weddings. However, Douglas may once again have to step into the role of the family informant. We’ve no doubt that whatever B&B asks Henry Joseph Samiri to play, the young actor will deliver a performance that’s both honest and powerful.
