B&B Brings Back Ken Hanes As Mike Guthrie In A Surprise Sheila Twist

Just when it looked like Sheila Carter was as low as she could be, she got two big breaks on The Bold and the Beautiful. One was a slip of the tongue by her late son Finn’s adoptive mother Li Finnegan and the other was the surprise appearance of her old friend Mike Guthrie, played by Ken Hanes, now a lawman at the local jail.

Ken Hanes is Back as B&B’s Mike

Check out our recap to read how Li (Naomi Matsuda) once again referred to her ‘late’ son Finn (Tanner Novlan) in the present tense. Hearing the word ‘is’ instead of ‘was’ caught Sheila’s (Kimberlin Brown) attention. She vowed to Li that she hadn’t seen the last of her. But how might Sheila escape custody? The answer to that — and yes, we’re getting ahead of ourselves about Sheila getting out police custody — could very well be in the form of her old pal Mike.

While in jail, Sheila’s been chastised by Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang), Chief Deputy Brad Baker (Dan Martin) and now, Li. How is Sheila going to get out of this, we’ve been wondering? Sure, she won’t have to go to jail for killing Finn (provided he survives) but there’s that matter of shooting him and Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) that’s going to send Sheila up the river.

A Bold and Beautiful Break for Sheila

Sheila’s needed a break and she got one when she heard the guard call her name, turned around and saw Mike. As veteran B&B viewers know, Sheila and Mike became pals back in 1993 after Ken Hanes was cast as the Forrester Creations security guard and she was the fashion line’s in-house nurse. Sheila often manipulated Mike into doing her misdeeds. Even after he knew Sheila was bad news, Mike kept coming back for more. Their bond runs deep.

Ken Hanes Is A Familiar Face

Rather than have Sheila try to chummy up and/or seduce a new character, someone who can help her in her current predicament, B&B chose another path. The show wisely dipped into his rich vault and brought back Mike familiar to not only Sheila but to the show’s viewers.

We’ve only seen a glimpse of Mike this time around but history has taught us that once these two team up, anything is possible! And kudos to B&B’s publicity team for keeping this bit of casting under wraps in a world that contains very few secrets!
