When it comes to The Bold and the Beautiful, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of B&B’s week that was.
Oh. My. GOSH! Thomas Forrester (Matthew Atkinson) was the one to call Child Protective Services and frame Brooke Logan Forrester (Katherine Kelly Lang)?! I’m so surprised, said no one. And here was me thinking that The Bold and the Beautiful just might take the road less traveled, that they’d zig when we expect them to zag, that they’d do something a little less pat and wholly obvious.
Then again, why start now? This is a soap opera that finds a trope that it likes and then repeats it ad nauseam. Brooke and Taylor Hayes (Krista Allen) began vying for Ridge Forrester’s (Thorsten Kaye) affection and attention some thirty years ago, and the battle is still raging. Nothing has been learned.
In fact, the only character who seems to have developed any semblance of foresight is Katie Logan (Heather Tom), who knows that all roads traversed by Bill Spencer (Don Diamont) eventually lead back to Brooke, and that hard-earned wisdom only took hold after the fourth or fifth estrangement from her ex-hubby.
* I am so sick of hearing that Taylor would never “betray” Ridge. She very famously did; with James Warwick (Ian Buchanan) and Hector Ramirez. I’m also sick of seeing that flashback of Ridge declaring to Brooke, “my mother always wanted us to be together.” No, no, she very much did not.
I suppose it’s easy for characters — and head writers — to forget easily verifiable facts when they are inconsistent with the new narrative that they want to spin.
* Say What?!
Brooke: I know that you’re thrilled about the end of my marriage.
Steffy: See, there you go again. There you go, making this all about you.
For every person who accuses Brooke of having zero self-awareness, I’d like for you to consider that Steffy, who abandoned her husband and children for the sole purpose of browbeating her mother into waging a war over a married man (who so happens to be Steffy’s father), thinks that Brooke is the one being selfish.
* Since when is Othello (Othello R. Clark) on Bill’s payroll? Wasn’t he an employee of Forrester Creations?
* Weren’t we led to believe that Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown) is Scrooge McDuck wealthy? If that’s the case, why does she have to pilfer steaks and whiskey from Il Giardino?
