When it comes to The Bold and the Beautiful, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of B&B’s week that was.
So, not only did The Bold and the Beautiful see fit to make a mockery of suicide, but they now seem to be cribbing from the late, great William J. Bell’s playbook with this whole, Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) inviting a down and out Taylor (Krista Allen) to move into her palatial abode. Had Taylor ever resided there previously, I’d be worried that B&B was gearing up for a battle of ownership? As it is, I hang my head incredulously.
Equally disconcerting is this sickening, tone-deaf triangle that the soap is trying to manufacture between Sheila (Kimberlin Brown), Bill (Don Diamont), and Deacon (Sean Kanan).
I’m sure the idea seemed solid on paper. Take your premiere bad girl and have the two most morally ambiguous gents on the canvas vie for her affections. The rub?
Well, for starters, the writers really seem to be hammering home the point that when Sheila says no, she really means yes, which is a dangerous message to send at the best of times. And not to mention the fact that Sheila and Deacon’s lust story originated with a roll in the hay during which he had no idea who she actually was.
(The Bold and the Beautiful has long had a serious issue with consent where their couplings are concerned. Not so nice to see that the tradition continues.)
Then there’s the little issue that is Bill being completely unaware of the fact that he has competition. Perhaps that will be addressed in the near future, preferably before Sheila and Deacon ride off into the sunset together and the whole thing proves moot.
* If there’s one thing that Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) most decidedly does not need it’s another kid to raise. A storyline of her very own, absolutely, but this…this isn’t it.
* Only In Los Angeles…Can you annul a marriage one day and plan to wed the very next; Spring a next-day custody hearing on your child’s co-parent and henge the entire outcome on the whims of said child.
