Last week, Jacqueline MacInnes Wood won her second Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Performance by a Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her role as Steffy Forrester on The Bold and the Beautiful. Her winning reel told the powerful story of Steffy’s dramatic battle with opioid addiction.

Jacqueline MacInnes Wood Celebrates Her Win

Wood was able to watch the awards on Friday night on CBS from her home as the ceremony had actually been pre-taped two weeks prior at the Associated Television International (ATI) studios in Burbank.

“We had a wonderful night at the house,” the actress shared with Soap Hub. After the broadcast, she says that she went over to former TV dad Ronn Moss’s (ex-Ridge) house where the merriment continued. “[He] was having a big party. We ended up celebrating. Ronn was performing. We danced the night away.”

While it may seem a bit surreal having nominees pre-tape a speech in case they had won, Wood says she actually enjoyed the setup this year and was happy that it was more interactive than last year’s awards. “It was such an experience doing it this way,” she says, adding with a chuckle, “This year, I wasn’t in high heels for so long! It was nice to go out on stage and just do your speech.”

While Wood enjoyed being at home for the broadcast, she says she’s looking forward to next year when there will likely be a large-scale, live Daytime Emmy production as in past years. “Having the cast and all the shows together will be great,” Wood says. “But I have to say I didn’t mind it this way. I got to relive it all over again while watching it.” This year, Wood wore Vintage Elle Saab to the awards. “I got a gown that didn’t need many adjustments,” she shares with a smile.

While Steffy’s addiction is under control, the opioid crisis is still a grave concern and continues to make real-life headlines. “We’ve all known someone [in a position similar to Steffy’s],” Wood laments. “It’s so unfortunate that during the lockdown [cases] have skyrocketed. We need to continue to talk about this.”

As the 2018 Outstanding Lead Actress winner, Wood hosted last year’s luncheon featuring the top actress nominees. However, her gathering had to be virtual due to COVID and social distancing. “We did it via Zoom, and it was cool that we all got together,” the actress says. “[Last year’s winner] Heather Tom [Katie] did a wonderful job hosting this year. She’s amazing — from the flower arrangements to the decorations on the table, it was just wonderful.”

Next year, Wood will host the gala but, for now, she’s soaking in this year’s win. “I’m super proud of everyone,” she says. “This is such a great moment and right now, I’m really just enjoying it.” Soap Hub congratulates Wood on her bookend win!
