Most of the time on soaps, but not always, men are calming women down. That wasn’t the case this week on The Bold and the Beautiful when Steffy implored Liam to remain mum about their night of passion.

Jacqueline MacInnes Wood — Performer of the Week

Part negotiator/part pragmatist/part woman in love, Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) used passion and logic to get Liam (Scott Clifton) to see her side of things. Soap Hub bestows Performer of the Week honors for BB on Wood for showing Steffy as the voice of reason during a delicate time.

Liam felt that he needed to come clean with Hope (Annika Noelle) and let her know that he had slept with Steffy after he mistakenly thought that his wife was being unfaithful to him with Thomas (Matthew Atkinson). By the time he had found out that Thomas was smooching the Hope mannequin, Liam was the one who really did betray his wedding vows.

Wood played that Steffy, of course, understood on paper why Liam wanted to confess, but she pointed out to him that it would only do harm and not good. On a scale of 1 to 10 (with 10 being the worst), Liam saw the situation in front of him as a solid 10. He told Steffy that she must feel bad not telling Finn (Tanner Novlan) the truth, too.

“I’m not lying to Finn,” Steffy pointed out. “And you’re not lying to Hope. Our feelings for them haven’t changed.”

Steffy vehemently maintained that she and Liam had done nothing wrong, so there’s no need to apologize. However, Liam said that he couldn’t keep quiet any longer.

“We have to,” Steffy argued like a lawyer fighting for her client in court. “If we told them, it would cause unbearable pain. There’s no reason for it. We have to move on.”

When Liam wasn’t budging, Steffy upped the stakes to strengthen her case, pointing out that this wasn’t just the grownups who were going to suffer — Kelly, Beth, and Douglas (Henry Joseph Samiri) would, too! “Don’t you dare tell Hope!” Steffy argued.

On cue, Hope walked in, asking to know what was going on. Wood showed just how quickly on her feet Steffy can act when the Forrester heiress came up with a lie on the spot about Liam planning a surprise for his wife.

Of course, by week’s end, Steffy learned that she’s pregnant and either Liam or Finn is the baby’s father, prompting Wood to re-examine Steffy’s position — and we’re pretty sure it will provide ample opportunity for Wood to continue to shine.
