When it comes to The Bold and the Beautiful, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of B&B’s week that was.
This week’s supposedly Bold and Beautiful offerings were anything but. For one all too brief and shining moment it appeared that Taylor Hayes (Krista Allen) had gained some self-respect, and then she threw it all away…for Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye). Somebody get this woman — supposedly a world-renowned psychiatrist in her own right — a shrink stat!
And then there was Steffy “I’m So Glad That My Husband Narrowly Avoided Death” Forrester Finnegan (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) upping sticks after doing no more than phoning John “Finn” Finnegan (Tanner Novlan) and her babysitter — did she even bid her children an in-person adieu? — just so that she could urge her mother to get her tramp on and wreck Ridge’s marriage. What?! Isn’t Steffy a woman who managed to extricate herself from an equally toxic relationship and find real and lasting love? Why oh why would she be encouraging her mother to do what she’s encouraging her to do?
Also, since when has Hope Logan Spencer (Annika Noelle) been spending the night at the Forrester manse? That bit of info suddenly sprung from nowhere and seems poised to mean…something, sometime, further down the road.
And not for nothing, but why did Brooke Logan Forrester (Kimberlin Brown) hear that from Liam Spencer’s (Scott Clifton) mouth and not Donna Logan’s (Jennifer Gareis)? Does Donna not live with Eric Forrester (John McCook) full-time now? And if she does, why isn’t she aware of who is and who isn’t paying overnight visits? Is the manse really that big?
I’d be curious to hear from ‘Tridge’ fans if you found the reunion truly satisfying or, if like me, you found it to be an unearned blip that’ll soon be put asunder.
* If his Aspen abode holds such sweet memories for Bill Spencer (Don Diamont), why did he offer Steffy the right of the first refusal instead of Brooke, the woman with whom he made said memories? It certainly isn’t because he’s afraid of what Ridge might say — he couldn’t give a damn.
* Many Bold and the Beautiful fans, myself included, immediately jumped to the conclusion that Thomas Forrester (Matthew Atkinson) was the one responsible for the call to Child Protective Services and Brooke’s subsequent frameup, but the soap doesn’t seem to be telegraphing that as fact, and if there’s one thing B&B isn’t, it’s subtle. Is it possible that Thomas is a mere red herring?
I’m going to go with doubtful. The Bold and the Beautiful, or, more precisely, Brad Bell isn’t capable of constructing a real mystery storyline — remember the murder of Vinny Walker (Joe LoCicero) that wasn’t — so I’m betting that Thomas’s innocent act is a double bluff. That, or no one on the studio floor has the heart to tell Atkinson of the very obvious conclusion to this plot and he’s genuinely convinced that his character is blameless.
