When it comes to The Bold and the Beautiful, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of B&B’s week that was.

The Bold and the Beautiful: A Critic’s Week In Review

I’m used to the staggering hypocrisy on The Bold and the Beautiful, but it really seems like the show is going out of its way to put the practice front and center. One minute Steffy Forrester Finnegan (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) is reigning down holy Hell upon Hope Logan Spencer (Annika Noelle) for, “interfering in her marriage,” and the next she’s sticking her nose into Hope’s relationship with Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton); even later, she’s deriding her father’s choice of wife.

Then Steffy has the audacity to comment on Brooke Logan Forrester (Katherine Kelly Lang) sleeping with her daughter’s husband and conceiving a child with him, when she did the horizontal mambo with her father-in-law and wasn’t sure whether he or her husband, was the father of her baby.

And Taylor Hayes (Krista Allen). Taylor, Taylor, Taylor. She admonishes Brooke – to her face! – for, “needing a man to define her,” when Taylor herself has said, many times, that she’s allowed her overwhelming need/want for Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye) to keep her from having a close, personal, face-to-face relationship with her children.

Imagine saying that you can’t come home for your daughter’s wedding, or be there in person to support her through her struggling with addiction, or the loss of the baby you helped her adopt because you’re afraid that seeing your ex with his new wife will make you sad. Mother of the year, Taylor ain’t.

In one breath Taylor is agreeing with Ridge that Hope should forgo any interaction with Deacon Sharpe (Sean Kanan) because it makes Ridge uncomfortable, and the next she’s telling anyone who will listen to her that Douglas (Henry Joseph Samiri) needs to spend more time with Thomas Forrester (Matthew Atkinson) because it’s important that a child know its father. Huh?

Further B&B Critic’s Musings

* Another week, another all to brief Katie Logan (Heather Tom) sighting. It’s more than apparent that The Bold and the Beautiful has relegated her to boring talk-to status, which is truly a fate worse than death on a soap opera.

What happened to her and Bill Spencer’s (Don Diamont) reconciliation storyline, and/or the promising Katie/Carter Walton (Lawrence Saint-Victor) romance?

* Since I’ve devoted a good deal of this column to deriding Taylor, allow me to thank her for doing the one thing that no one else on The Bold and the Beautiful has yet to do – consider John “Finn” Finnegan’s (Tanner Novlan) feelings re: Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown).

And how clever of B&B to have Taylor proactively deal with Sheila, rather than allow Steffy to continue antagonizing her from afar. As Doc so wisely put it, it is better to keep enemies closer…and it’s a whole more entertaining for us fans.

* Were my eyes deceiving me, or was that really Ridge and Brooke standing around making polite conversation with Quinn Forrester (Rena Sofer) during The Bold and the Beautiful’s Christmas episode?

Wasn’t it but two (maybe three) weeks ago that the duo was calling that woman every insulting name in the book, and begging Eric Forrester (John McCook) to kick her to the curb? And now they’re telling her about Rick and RJ’s holiday plans – and Quinn’s listening intently? I know somethings wrong with this picture, but I just can’t put my finger on it…

(And the less said about Quinn cutting up with Paris Buckingham [Diamond White], whom she normally can’t stand the sight of, the better.)
