The Bold and the Beautiful’s “Bridge” is falling fast. And, at this point, the epic-long love story of Ridge Forrester and Brooke Logan Forrester needs to collapse.
During the soap’s three-decade run the tumultuous Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) and Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) relationship has had more ups and downs than a Six Flags roller coaster ride. Brooke’s latest stunt, kissing Deacon Sharpe (Sean Kanan) during an alcohol-fueled stupor, has Ridge fuming and at the breaking point. But is it the point of no return?
Here are seven reasons why splitting the couple up again and letting “Bridge” collapse — at least for a while – makes totally sense.
1 Alcohol or no alcohol, Brooke has a history of straying; particularly with her husband’s sworn enemies. Last time it was Bill Spencer (Don Diamont). This time it’s Deacon. How much can a guy take? Ridge needs to walk away, so Brooke can contemplate what she’s done. Maybe it’s time she heads to counseling to figure out why she continually goes down the same destructive path.
2 Or perhaps the soap could explore a Brooke/Deacon reunion. The duo were red hot during their initial run together, when Brooke shamelessly bedded her daughter Bridget’s husband. There’s undeniable chemistry between the twosome, and it might finally be time to stop denying it.
3 Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown) set Brooke’s downfall in motion, when she switched her non-alcoholic bottle of champagne with the real deal, sending the recovering alcoholic into a spiral. Watching her delight in Brooke’s misery is going to be golden on The Bold and the Beautiful. She’s won, at least for now. However, knowing Sheila, she’s going to want to take credit for her handy work. The question is, who will she end up revealing the truth to? And what will that person do with the information?
4 Granted, Thomas Forrester (Matthew Atkinson) and Steffy Forrester Finnegan (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) are way too obsessed with their father’s love life. (Do grown children really behave this way?) However, a “Bridge” split would bring them so much joy. They’d finally be rid of the stepmother they loathe and could start maneuvering to reunite their happy family.
5 It’s no secret that Taylor Hayes (Kristen Allen) has been pining for Ridge and still loves him deeply. She’s kept her distance out of respect for his marriage to Brooke, but if that union ended, she’d be free to reclaim her man and Ridge might be very receptive.
6 However, a more intriguing option might be bringing Denise Richards back to The Bold and the Beautiful and revisiting Shauna Fulton and Ridge. There were serious sparks between the twosome, and exploring them as a couple would be titillating. Plus, think about how happy it would make Shauna’s best pal, Quinn (Rena Sofer).
7 Speaking of Quinn, she’d totally have the last laugh over a Brooke/Ridge fail. Think about how Brooke chastised Quinn over her fling with Carter Walton (Lawrence Saint-Victor); how she tried to convince Eric Forrester (John McCook) to dump Quinn and reconcile with Donna Logan (Jennifer Gareis). Quinn would be the one sitting pretty now and living her best life with Eric, while Brooke’s out in the cold alone.
