They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but we wonder what good is a picture when you can’t recognize the subject? Above is a snapshot of a future star of soaps, but can you guess who this gorgeous cover girl grew up to be?
Star Of The Soaps
Obviously this young woman (now all grown up) is either currently starring in, or is an alum of, one of the four remaining daytime dramas – The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of our Lives, General Hospital, and The Young and the Restless – but that’s probably not enough of a hint.
So try these on for size. She initially had dreams of becoming a champion figure skater. She began her career in the entertainment industry as a model. Her first acting credit was a made-for-TV movie starring Rock Hudson. She played a character on the FOX serial Melrose Place. Her feature film debut was in a picture starring Dolph Lundgren. And she has created her own jewelry and fashion lines.
But just who can she be? Is this a photograph of Rena Sofer (Quinn, BB), Kristian Alfonso (ex-Hope, DAYS), Rebecca Herbst (Elizabeth, GH), or Susan Walters (ex-Diane, YR)?
Rena Sofer
Sofer was discovered by a model scout when she was a mere 15 years of age and she subsequently appeared in a plethora of ad campaigns and runway shows. She eventually turned her attention towards an acting career and among her many credits is a season-long arc on Melrose Place. However, unlike today’s featured star, Sofer is only a jewelry designer when she slips into the role of BB’s Quinn.
Rebecca Herbst
Although she had appeared in over 60 nationally televised commercials, Herbst struggled to decide whether or not she wanted to continue as an actress or instead devote herself full time to her competitive figure skating. At age 16, she chose acting. But Herbst isn’t the answer to today’s identity query.
Susan Walters
Walters was indeed a teenage model, and she did have a role on Melrose Place. But her first acting credit was the pilot episode of Loving – which aired as a two-hour movie in the Summer of 1983 – and her Hollywood co-stars were Lloyd Bridges and Geraldine Page, not Rock Hudson.
Kristian Alfonso
An injured leg forced Alfonso to abandon her figure skating career, but it opened up a whole new world for her – international modeling. After appearing on the covers of over 30 magazines, Alfonso found herself cast in the 1981 made-for-TV movie The Starmaker, which counted Rock Hudson amongst its cast.
And though she gained name recognition for her turn as DAYS’ Hope Williams Brady, Alfonso did continue to act in other primetime programs – including Falcon Crest (where she spent two years playing Pilar Ortega) and Melrose Place (where she played a devious madam). In November 2006, Alfonso launched a jewelry line (Hope*Faith*Miracles) and clothing line (Hope by Kristian Alfonso).
So, if you guessed that the future star of soaps seen in the image above was Kristian Alfonso – whose film debut was the 1993 thriller Joshua Tree – then you were absolutely correct!
