They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but we wonder what good is a picture when you can’t recognize the subject? Above is a snapshot of a future star of soaps, but can you guess who this brightly attired little boy grew up to be?
Star Of The Soaps
Obviously this young man (now all grown up) is either an alum of a long-ago classic – like Ally My Children – or they are currently starring in, or are an alum of, one of the four remaining daytime dramas – The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of our Lives, General Hospital, and The Young and the Restless – but that’s probably not enough of a hint.
So try these on for size. His first professional role was in a daytime soap opera. He met his future spouse on a soundstage. He has co-hosted an early-morning talk show as well as a panel discussion segment on the Oprah Winfrey Show. He hosted two reality dating shows. And he is well known for his role in a teen drama series.
But just who can he be? Is this a photograph of Mark Consuelos (ex-Mateo Santos, AMC), Mario Lopez (ex-Dr. Christian Ramirez, BB), A Martinez (Eduardo Hernandez, DAYS), or Jordi Vilasuso (Rey Rosales, YR)?
Mario Lopez
Lopez has guest and solo hosted a plethora of talk and infotainment shows and he is certainly well known for his work on the teen-centric series Saved By the Bell. However, he began his acting career in the comedy series a.k.a Pablo and he did not meet his current wife – actress Courtney Mazza – on a sound stage. So he isn’t today’s featured star.
A Martinez
Martinez’s first wife was actress Mare Winningham – a co-star in the western drama The Young Pioneers. But that is all that Martinez has in common with today’s mystery actor. His first acting credit is the 1968 film The Young Animals and though he has served as host for some awards show, Martinez has never done so for one dating series, let alone two.
Jordi Vilasuso
Vilasuso’s first acting role was in the fantasy film The Last Home Run and though he did indeed marry a fellow performer – actress Kaitlin Riley – they didn’t meet on the set of the same project.
Mark Consuelos
Consuelos’s big break came courtesy of the All My Children casting director who hired him to play Mateo Santos. During his seven-year tenure, Consuelos met his future bride, Kelly Ripa, who ironically played Hayley Vaughan, Mateo’s love interest.
After parting ways with the soap, Consuelos continued to focus on his acting career, though he occasionally joined Kelly as a guest-host on her eponymous talk show. He also turned his own attention to leading panel discussions on series like The Oprah Winfrey Show and hosting reality programs such as Age of Love and Science of Love.
So, if you guessed that the future star of soaps seen in the image above was Mark Consuelos – who has been playing Hiram Lodge on the hit teen drama Riverdale since 2017 – then you were absolutely correct.
