For years, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos told the love story of Hayley and Mateo on All My Children. Now, the two are telling a serialized drama from a behind-the-scenes perspective for the streaming service Hulu.
Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos — New Project
According to Deadline, Hulu has teamed up with Milojo Productions (Ripa and Consuelos’s production company) and ABC Signature to bring to life Mexican Gothic, a drama based on Silvia Moreno-Garcia’s bestselling thriller/horror novel.
Mexican Gothic tells the story of Noemi Taboada, a young socialite who journeys to the mountains of Hildalgo and the Mexican countryside hoping to rescue her cousin, who has wed into a mining family after she gets a frantic letter. Noemi’s goal is to uncover the family’s evil ways, but she finds that there may be no escaping her strange, new home.
Ripa used her Instagram account to urge her followers to check out the tome. “Sublime horror for your summer reading. So good i bought the hard copy and the download to read in the dark,” the host of Live With Kelly and Ryan said.
“We feel like we hit the literary jackpot, and cannot wait to bring Silvia’s gorgeous writing to life, together with Hulu,” said Ripa.

Moreno-Garcia is the best-selling author of Gods of Jade and Shadow, Certain Dark Things, and Untamed Shore. She had edited several anthologies including She Walks in Shadows. “I am excited to see the novel come to life and to meet the talented, diverse crew and cast members that will take us on this journey,” said Moreno-Garcia.
Ripa and Consuelos’s company — Milojo — is named after the first three letters of each of their children’s names: Michael, Lola, and Joaquin. No word yet on if there will be a role for either Ripa or Consuelos in the new series. Consuelos stars as Hiram Lodge on The CW series Riverdale. Live with Kelly and Ryan airs weekdays in syndication.
