Who Did This Bow-Tie Wearing Cutie Grow Up To Play On Soaps?

 Comments

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but we wonder what good is a picture when you can’t recognize the subject? Above is a snapshot of a future star of soaps, but can you guess who is this bow-tie wearing cutie grew up to be?

Star Of The Soaps

Obviously, this young man (now all grown up) is either currently starring in, or is an alum of, one of the four remaining daytime dramas – The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of our Lives, General Hospital, and The Young and the Restless – but that’s probably not enough of a hint.

So try these on for size. He is a native of Australia. He has appeared in multiple soap operas since emigrating to the U.S. He starred in a 1980s action/adventure series. And his film debut came courtesy of 1978 musical drama starring Paul Sorvino.

But just who can he be? Is this a photograph of Don Diamont (Bill Spencer, BB), Thaao Penghlis (ex-Count Anthony DiMera, DAYS), Ingo Rademacher (Jasper Jax, GH), Tristan Rogers (ex-Colin Atkinson, YR)?

Don Diamont

Though he is a soap hopper, owing to his roles on DAYS (ex-Carlo Forenza), YR (ex-Brad Carlton), and BB), Diamont isn’t today’s featured star. He was born and raised in Oceanside, New York, and his first feature film was 1992’s Unbecoming Age – a comedy starring George Clooney.

Ingo Rademacher

Despite spending nearly 15 years in Australia, Rademacher was actually born and raised (for a decade) in Iserlohn, West Germany. This, coupled with the fact that he has only appeared in one U.S.-based soap, is proof positive that Rademacher isn’t the answer to today’s identity query.

Tristan Rogers

And neither is Rogers. This in spite of the fact that he is indeed an Australian native and a soap hopper – having appeared in GH (where he has played Robert Scorpio on-and-off since 1980) as well as YR.

Thaao Penghlis

Penghlis was born in Surry Hills, New South Wales where he remained for many years. He eventually made his way to the U.S. where he honed his acting skills under the auspice of Milton Katselas.

In 1981, he originated the part of Victor Cassadine on General Hospital and he would subsequently appear in both DAYS and Santa Barbara (ex-Micah DeAngelis). During one of his many breaks from DAYS, Penghlis played Nicholas Black, a main character in the 1980s revival of Mission: Impossible.

So, if you guessed that the future star of soaps seen in the image above was Thaao Penghlis – whose first film effort was 1978’s Slow Dancing in the Big City – then you were absolutely correct!
