They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but we wonder what good is a picture when you can’t recognize the subject? Above is a snapshot of a future star of soaps but can you guess who this little darling grew up to be?

Star Of The Soaps

Obviously this young man (now all grown up) is either currently starring on, or is an alum of, one of the four remaining daytime dramas – The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of our Lives, General Hospital, and The Young and the Restless – but that probably isn’t much of a hint.

So try these on for size. He is a Miami, Florida native and a graduate of the famed Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute. He began his career playing roles in a number of popular telenovelas and one of his first English language roles was the action-thriller Camino.

But just who can he be? Is this a photograph of Mick Cain (ex-C.J. Garrison, BB), Galen Gering (Rafe Hernandez, DAYS), Marcus Coloma (Nikolas Cassadine, GH), or Jason Canela (ex-Arturo Rosales, YR)?

Mick Cain

Cain was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, and his first professional acting credit was an episode of the sitcom Sister, Sister. So no, he isn’t today’s featured star.

Galen Gering

Nor is it Gering. His schooling took place at both New York State University and the University of Miami, but his subject matter was less on the how-to’s of acting and more creative writing and film studies.

And though Passions could certainly give the high concept, high camp telenovelas a run for their money, it was the only soap Gering starred on prior to DAYS.

Marcus Coloma

Coloma studied his craft at The Acting Center (based in Los Angeles). And his first acting job was in the telenovela structured MTV serial Undressed. But English was that show’s (and Coloma’s) first language. So Coloma isn’t today’s mystery child.

Jason Canela

Canela’s career was launched thanks to a supporting role in the telenovela Done Esta Elisa? Afterward, on the advice of his acting teacher, Canela left Miami, Florida and sought further training at New York’s Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute.

Roles in two other telenovelas followed. Canela then appeared in three short films (Regression, Loss, and The Dead in Us) before joining the cast of the feature film Camino. In 2016 he played Omar Robles in Pitch (a drama series on FOX) and two years later he landed at YR.

So if you guessed that perhaps the future star of soaps seen in the image above was Jason Canela – who played YR’s serial heartbreaker, Arturo Rosales – then you were absolutely correct!
