They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but we wonder what good is a picture when you can’t recognize the subject? Above is snapshot of a future star of soaps, but can you guess who this little hula-skirted darling grew up to be?
Star Of The Soaps
Obviously this young woman (now all grown up) is an alum of one of the four remaining daytime dramas – The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of our Lives, General Hospital, and The Young and the Restless – but that’s probably not enough of a hint.
So try these on for size. She’s a music video and reality TV star. She was named one of People Magazines 50 Most Beautiful. Her feature film debut was made opposite Nicolas Cage, Sean Connery, and Ed Harris. After her success in daytime, she found greater exposure thanks to a hit primetime series and since the late 2000s, she has appeared in a number of Lifetime and Hallmark original movies.
But just who can she be? Is this a photograph of Lilly Melgar (ex-Claudia Cortez, BB), Lindsay Hartley (ex-Arianna Hernandez, DAYS), Vanessa Marcil (ex-Brenda Barrett, GH), or Eva Longoria (ex-Isabella Brana, YR)?
Lilly Melgar
The one thing that Melgar has in common with today’s featured star (well, two, but we’ll leave that for the end) is her association with reality TV. Years prior to her emigration to the U.S. from El Salvador, Melgar hosted series such as Tu Musica, Des de Hollywood, and Ritmo Internacional.
Melgar was ushered into the film world via the low budget Midnight Warrior, which starred Kevin Bernhardt (ex-Kevin O’Connor, GH) and Bernie Angel. And though she never starred in a music video, she has produced a plethora of them for famous figures such as the Spice Girls and Madonna.

Lindsay Harley
Hartley is quite a force – actress, singer, writer, and director! She’s starred in a number of Lifetime productions – including Nightmare Nurse, Deadly Exchange, and Deadly Daughter Switch (the latter two which she penned) – and she did indeed participate in Queens of Drama, the POP TV-reality show that featured former soap stars creating their own series. But she isn’t the answer to today’s identity query.
Eva Longoria
And neither is Longoria. This in spite of her appearances in many music videos – including Ricky Martin’s Shake Your Bon-Bon and Jamie Foxx’s Unpredictable – her post-YR fame courtesy of Desperate Housewives and her rankings in a number of People magazine’s Most Beautiful lists.
Vanessa Marcil
Marcil joined the cast of General Hospital in 1992, where she was eventually in an explosive love triangle with Maurice Benard (Sonny) and Lilly Melgar (Lily) In the ensuing years, she found herself starring in two music videos featuring Prince. Perhaps the most famous of the two was 1994’s The Most Beautiful Girl in the World – which no doubt netted her the accolade doled out by People magazine the following year.
In 1996, Marcil starred alongside Cage, Connery, and Harris in the Michael Bay-directed film The Rock. Two years later, she vacated the role of Brenda, and in 2003 she found even greater recognition thanks to the NBC series Las Vegas. Since 2009, Marcil has been a darling of Lifetime and Hallmark originals and in 2015, she was a main participant in POP TV’s Queens of Drama.
So, if guessed that the future star of soaps seen in the image above was Vanessa Marcil, then you were absolutely correct!
