Where would soap stars be without their fans? It’s the fans (and their viewing habits) that help keep their favorite actors employed and in the spotlight.

Which of These Soap Stars Was It?

All of these actors either portray a character on, or they’re an alum of, one of the four remaining soaps – The Bold and Days of our Lives, General Hospital, and The Young and the Restless. But only one of them can claim that their myriad of fans lobbied for them to be named Australian of the Year.

But who can that actor be? Is it Ronn Moss (ex-Ridge Forrester, BB), the late Joe Mascolo (ex-Stefano DiMera, DAYS), Ingo Rademacher (Jasper Jacks, GH), or Tristan Rogers (ex-Colin Atkinson, YR)?

Joe Mascolo

Mascolo spent most of his years in daytime playing exotically named and vaguely European villains. Most famously, of course, were his stints at DAYS. But he also graced General Hospital (ex-Nicholas Van Buren), Santa Barbara (ex-Carlos Alvarez), and BB (ex-Massimo Marone) – and more – with his presence. However, his multitude of fans never lobbied him to be named Australian of the Year.

Ingo Rademacher

Though born and initially raised in West Germany, Rademacher spent most of his formative years in Australia. And it was there that he began amassing acting credits.

His first role was in the soap opera Paradise Beach. Upon its cancellation, Rademacher appeared in another serial – Echo Point. Afterward, he emigrated to the U.S. and was almost immediately hired to join the cast of GH. But he isn’t the answer to today’s identity query.

Tristan Rogers

Nor is Rogers. And this in spite of his being born and bred in Melbourne, and his plethora of Australian TV credits – including roles on some of the most popular, and most controversial, serials ever produced (namely Number 96 and the Box).

Ronn Moss

The Bold and the Beautiful stands as the most-watched soap opera in the world – and some of its most devoted fans reside Down Under. Of all the “graduates” of the series, Ronn Moss still remains one of the most popular, especially there.

The California native delighted millions of Aussie’s with his work on the show and his appearances in commercials for Australian Fresh orange juice. Back in 2006, an online petition began to circulate (and gather a multitude of signatures) calling for Moss to be voted Australian of the Year.

The tremendous enthusiasm and effort, however, didn’t translate into either a nomination or a win. Instead, the award went to Ian Hector Frazer, an immunologist and the founding CEO and Director of research of the Translational Research Institute.

So, if you guess that the soap star in question was Ronn Moss – the originator of the Ridge Forrester role – then you were absolutely correct!
