Soap Hub Insiders, each month we spotlight a fellow member to learn about their love of soap operas and how/why it started. Kicking off the month of March, we feature a longtime Soap Hub reader and one of the first members of Insider, Pam Seggerman.
She joins Insider from Chino, California during the winter, and her summers from a little cabin on her blueberry land in Gray, Maine. What soap operas do you watch?
I have watched (and am currently watching) Days of our Lives.
How did you start watching soaps?
I began watching Days of our Lives back in the 70s with my mother. Although I took a break from watching the soaps during college and throughout my teaching career, I have started watching again.
What do you love about soap operas?
Watching Days of our Lives is a fun experience, and it has been a particularly welcome diversion since I’ve been sheltering at home during the pandemic.
My friend (who I only get to see during the summer, because she lives on the East Coast) and I watch Days of our Lives, and we have so much fun talking about what happened and anticipating what will happen etc. It has become one of the many “hook-up” points that my friend and I share.
What is one story about you that involves a soap opera?
I remember one summer (many years ago) when my mom and I sat in floating pool chairs in the pool in her backyard, as we watched Days of our Lives. Talk about a fun and relaxing experience!
Have you attended the Soap Hub Fireside chats with soap star?
I have attended a number of Insider fireside chats, which I have enjoyed thoroughly. I have learned so much about each of the stars, and all of them have been extremely interesting. The hosts have been well prepared with excellent questions, and those attending the fireside chats have been given the opportunity to ask the stars questions, as well.
Who are your favorite soap stars?
There are so many outstanding and accomplished soap stars that it’s difficult to choose just one favorite. All of the actors and actresses bring their own unique qualities to the characters that they portray.
What soap events have you attended?
Over the years I have been fortunate to have attended a number of Days of our Lives fan events, which have been held throughout the country. Many of these have been weekend-long events that have provided me with the opportunity to spend quite a bit of time with each of the stars.
What soap stars have you met in real life?
Because I have attended so many Days of our Lives fan events over the years, I have had the privilege of not only meeting but also spending time with nearly 50 Days of our Lives stars.

Which soap stars would you like to meet?
Among the Days of our Lives stars, I would like to meet are Arianne Zucker, Drake Hogestyn, Brandon Barash, and Linsey Godfrey (just to name a few).
What would you like to share with other Insiders?
Some of my fondest memories are of attending Days of our Lives fan events with my little dog, Caramel. We became “regulars” at the soap opera fan events, and I cherish the time that we spent with the stars.
