There’s a brand new Lily onscreen at The Young and the Restless, ever since Christel Khalil resurrected the popular character in March. She’s more confident, vibrant and interesting than she’s been in years. Lily’s finally got her groove back, and it’s been a long time coming.

Finally Free

Sure, she’s a free woman, having served her time for the unfortunate deaths of Hilary (Mishael Morgan) and her unborn child. The time in prison forced Lily to reexamine her life and change her whole perspective about the future.

But she’s also a woman who’s been liberated in other ways. She’s cut ties with longtime husband Cane (Daniel Goddard) and divorced him. And her grown children, whose agings will always be one of the show’s biggest blunders, have been sent off to school. Both moves have left her unattached; a suddenly single entity who’s ready for whatever is next.

Getting Down to Business

On the work front, Lily’s been hired by Jill (Jess Walton) to work at Chancellor Industries, where her corporate persona is strong and invincible. She can hold her own against anyone, which is reminiscent of her dearly departed mother.

Viewers are finally seeing Lily as truly being spitfire Drucilla’s daughter. It’s a move that pays homage to both the character of Dru and the show’s history, and it’s been a long time coming.

And Romance…

Lily’s rejuvenation has also included a fiery sexier side, which has opened doors on the romantic front. Currently working and butting heads with Billy (Jason Thompson), the seeds have been planted for a budding relationship.

The soap originally went down that route in 2008, when Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson) arrived in Genoa City and claimed Cane was her baby daddy. Lily and Cane split, and she turned to Billy, but the romance was short-lived.

With Cane now off the canvas, sparks are finally free to fly between Lily and Billy. And with the chemistry between Khalil and Thompson, this time, it good actually work. Share your thoughts, leave a comment below
