With soap production shut down since March, our favorite stars have been home like so many of us due to the coronavirus pandemic. Days of our Lives star Mary Beth Evans has used this time to reflect and enjoy her grandchildren — and she tells Soap Hub all about it in this exclusive chat.

You’ve embraced being a grandmother, although it seems like just the other day that all three of your children were little kids running along the beach.
It does seem like yesterday, gosh darn it… but I’m loving this time in my life!
What have you been surprised to learn about yourself during all these recent events?
That I can become an obsessive cleaner!
Is there a favorite restaurant you’re craving?
True Foods! I love their chopped salad!
What have you missed most by staying home?
I miss going to work and seeing all my DAYS family! Also, I miss going to the movies, going out to restaurants, and getting my nails done!
What About DAYS?
Do you make it a point to try to watch DAYS every day, even though it’s preempted almost every day in Los Angeles?
I don’t watch television during the day generally but I love to see clips that people send me.
DAYS is preempted almost every day. so do you wake up in the middle of the night and watch some of the show on its re-broadcast?
Oh, I haven’t but that might be a good idea!
What do you think you’ll do when you walk into the DAYS studios for the first time?
Probably catching up from a distance-ish… who knows what the rules will be but I’ll be excited to see everyone! In fact, I can’t wait!
What co-stars have you kept in close touch with?
Stephen Nichols [Steve], Wally Kurth [Justin], Eric Martsolf [Brady], Deidre Hall [Marlena], Judi Evans [Adrienne/Bonnie], and Suzanne Rogers [Maggie].
What’s the best thing your parents ever taught you?
If you have nothing nice to say, don’t say anything at all.
Did you ever mess up as a kid – slash the teacher’s tires, etc – and disappoint your parents?
Not that I can recall… haha… definitely not!
What was your favorite television show when you were a kid?
I Love Lucy!
Is there a TV show you always watched with your children?
We watched 7th Heaven then Smallville then Everwood!
What’s the last book you’ve read that you can recommend?
City of Girls… I really loved it!
What is the last gift you’ve bought for yourself?
A platter from Maude Woods, it’s my friend Carrie’s shop!
Are you excited about the thought of traveling – where would you like to go?
Oh yes! I’d like to visit family on the east coast!
What’s for dinner?
I’m thinking fish tonight!
