The soap opera ratings race for the week ending April 21 show slight improvements for all four soaps. However, no show is at the numbers level it was at just a year ago.
The Bold and the Beautiful
The Bold and the Beautiful (BB) showed the most week-to-week improvement overall, garnering 3,611,000 viewers on average, up 165,000 from the week before, but down 140,000 from the year before.
B&B also showed the most gains with women 18-49 and 18-34.
The Young and the Restless
Sister soap The Young and the Restless (YR) maintained its perpetual number one spot, pulling in 4,455,000 viewers overall. It was up a mere 5,000 viewers from the previous week, but down a whopping 248,000 from the previous year.
Y&R also lost viewers in all four female demographics.
General Hospital
General Hospital garnered 2,467,000 viewers on average overall, up 65,000 from the week before and down a whole 318,000 from the year before.
However, GH also made gains in all four key women’s demos.
Days of Our Lives
Days of Our Lives (DOOL) also made gains from the previous week, but barely. It pulled in 2,052,000 viewers on average overall, up a very slight 4,000 from last week. However, it was also down 196,000 from the same time last year.
Surprisingly, DAYS was the only soap to make gains in all four female demographics.
