Fans Weigh In On Same-Sex Couples On Soap Operas

There have been several attempts to have same sex relationships on soaps over the years.

Right now, Sonny (Freddie Smith) and Paul (Christopher Sean) are wildly popular on Days of Our Lives (DOOL), just like Sonny and Will (Chandler Massey) were. Now that Massey is set to return in the fall, things should really be heating up.

General Hospital (GH) made a big deal of Lucas (Ryan Carnes) and Brad (Parry Shen) getting together but once they did, they’ve barely been seen again.

And currntly, The Young and the Restless (YR) is testing the waters with Mariah (Camryn Grimes) and Tessa’s (Cait Fairbanks) friendship teetering on the edge of crossing the line into romance.

For 36% of you, it all depends on the writing. If the love story is compelling, then you’re all for it. Frankly, you feel the same way about all couples. Almost anything that is written well and sucks you in will make you tune in day after day, no matter who it is.

Another 36% of you are totally up for it! You have no problem watching because love is love is love, whether it’s between a man and a woman, two men, or two women.

Just Say No
It seems that it’s a non-starter for 27% of you, who admit that not only does it bother you, but if it happens, you may stop watching your show.
