There have been several attempts to have same sex relationships on soaps over the years.
Right now, Sonny (Freddie Smith) and Paul (Christopher Sean) are wildly popular on Days of Our Lives (DOOL), just like Sonny and Will (Chandler Massey) were. Now that Massey is set to return in the fall, things should really be heating up.
General Hospital (GH) made a big deal of Lucas (Ryan Carnes) and Brad (Parry Shen) getting together but once they did, they’ve barely been seen again.
And currntly, The Young and the Restless (YR) is testing the waters with Mariah (Camryn Grimes) and Tessa’s (Cait Fairbanks) friendship teetering on the edge of crossing the line into romance.
