Why Can’t Jordan Ashford Ever Arrest The Real General Hospital Bad Guys?

General Hospital is a soap riddled with criminals everywhere, and yes, on this soap, the biggest criminal of all is also the hero, and that is something we have just learned to accept over the years for the sake of storylines. Sonny Corinthos is the mob king, and somehow he manages to beat every rap. Not so for everyone in this town.

General Hospital Puts The Wrong People Behind Bars

Port Charles is home to the Corinthos crime family, the Cassadine crime family, and now it seems the Wu crime family, and somehow its members manage to skirt the law over and over again. Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) — a man who does not always skirt the law — even brought up how Mayor Laura Collins (Genie Francis), his own sister, is soft on crime because organized criminals like Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy) roam free.

Many constituents agreed with the soft-on-crime claims, but somehow we are not sure that meant arresting young girls who naively refuse a lawyer and mourning mothers in the throes of a mental breakdown. Yet somehow, Commissioner Jordan Ashford (Tanisha Harper) and “the DA” seem to think it does. With Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers) being the DA, we are not even sure how that makes sense, but that can become a whole other article unto itself.

Why Did We Have To Watch Sasha And Trina Be Arrested?

It was bad enough months ago when Jordan questioned Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) without a lawyer present. It should not have mattered that Trina was so oblivious to the fact that she was being set up that she refused to have a lawyer present. As a professional, she should have insisted. Instead, she allowed Trina to implicate herself in a crime that Jordan knew the young college student did not commit.

However, watching Jordan insist that poor Sasha Gilmore Corbin (Sofia Mattsson) needed to be kept in the PCPD all night when she was clearly near-catatonic and not in her right state of mind was too much to bear.

General Hospital: Always Wrong

We still do not know why GH insists on torturing this character at all times, but Jordan should have been there to hear Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) read off the list of things that have happened to Sasha in the past few years to Gregory Chase (Gregory Harrison). She summed up the woman’s life to a tee. Can someone cut Sasha a break — aside from Alexis, apparently — ever?

Yes, the PCPD is soft on crime. Actual crime. Maybe one day they will even arrest actual criminals, even if we like those criminals.
