When Esme Prince popped up on General Hospital, she seemed very much a case of what you see is what you get: A spoiled, rich princess with an eye on the equally spoiled rich prince known as Spencer Cassadine.

But is there more here than meets the eye? She has shown some startling behavior so far and an interest in going over the top with her cover stories. So what is really going on here? What over 4,000 viewers told us:
Daughter Dearest
We think that Esme (Avery Kristen Pohl) is Ryan Chamberlin’s (Jon Lindstrom) illegitimate daughter, a confident 82% of you assert. Why do we think so? Well, because she has to be related to somebody, right? Random people don’t just show up in Port Charles.
And since she’s dating Spencer (Nicholas Alexander Chavez), she can’t be related to anyone who is related to Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma), Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard), or Laura Collins (Genie Francis). Which excludes quite a few people. Ryan makes sense. And it would explain it when she inevitably goes all Fatal Attraction on Trina (Sydney Mikayla).

Random General Hospital Chick
Who is Esme, 10% of the audience shrug. She’s just a girl Spencer met at school. So, yeah, Esme is exactly who she seems to be. It’s not very exciting. But, then again, neither is she. She is what is known in the soap business as a temporary obstacle, there to keep Spencer from the woman we know he really belongs with.
Mother Power
Remember how Kate Howard had an illegitimate son? Well, a last place 8% of fans think she had an illegitimate daughter, too. And that daughter is Esme. Kate left her baby boy in a drawer and took off. Maybe she left her daughter in a…closet.
Maybe Kate got tired of leaving kids in random pieces of furniture all over the continental United States and moved on to Europe. This will make her connected to Sonny, without actually being related to Sonny. So she and Spencer aren’t cousins. But at least it would also explain her over-the-top hatred of Ava Jerome Cassadine (Maura West), who killed Kate.
