It is a well-established General Hospital fact that all Port Charles women must fall in love with Sonny Corinthos. However, it is an equally well-established fact that, no matter how many women (all of them, see above) fall in love with Sonny, Sonny can only love Carly Corinthos. Also, sometimes, Brenda Barrett.

But what if, one day, one woman might choose not to walk away in the face of this One True Pairing. What if one woman, one time, chooses to fight for Sonny (Maurice Benard). Should that woman be Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros)? What our fans had to say:
Happily Ever After
The traditional majority, 78% of you, said, “Absolutely not.” Sonny is a happily married man. What God hath joined together, let no Nina put asunder. Who cares that Carly (Laura Wright) is secretly pining for Jason Morgan (Steve Burton). Who cares that Sonny still has residual feelings for Nina? We said they were happy, darn it, so happy they shall remain!

The Ball Is In Your General Hospital Court
A much smaller 14% of the audience figures the only way this true love will ever be put asunder is if Carly does something…Carly-like. If she makes trouble, then, yeah, OK, Nina can make a play for Sonny. Because his happiness is paramount, and if Sonny can’t meet all his needs, we’re willing to give Nina a shot at the holy endeavor.
The Good Son
Only 8% believe that Nina brings out the good in Sonny. Sure, he lost his memory, which is what led him from small-town mob boss to even smaller town handyman. But then he met Nina, and the dimples came out. She made him happy and content. He may have been happy with Carly (and, sometimes, Brenda), but was he ever content? This could be the relationship he’s always needed.
