When General Hospital fans first met Cyrus Renault, he was the bad mobster out to bring down the good mobster. Then he learned he was also Laura Collins’s long-lost biological brother. Which was…random.
Cyrus (Jeff Kober) recently denied having sent an assassin to take out Laura (Genie Francis) and their other brother, Martin Grey (Michael E. Knight). Will finding God truly inspire Cyrus to repent and walk the straight and narrow? And will that repentance be sincere…or just another long con? What almost 4,000 viewers want The Powers That Be to know:
It’s not up for debate, 72% of you assert confidently. Once a villain, always a villain. Cyrus has lied, threatened, blackmailed, kidnapped, and killed. Can you imagine what life in Port Charles would be like if people guilty of such heinous acts were not only allowed to roam about freely but if good people actually embraced them as heroes?
Cyrus should take back all his evil thoughts and deeds so that he and Laura can develop a sibling bond, 15% of the audience would prefer. There’s so much story potential in the idea of Laura…uh…talking to her new brother about the dad who seduced his medical school student then didn’t want anything to do with their child. That’s…something for her to do. Which is more than what she has now.
An only slightly smaller 13%, on the other hand, want to see Cyrus acting like he has changed his ways. But you want to always be wondering whether the change is long-term – or even sincere. Cyrus should never be a neutered bad guy. He should be nuanced and mysterious and slightly menacing. While making sure Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) always gets the best of him.
