After an absence of more than two years, Drew Cain, now played by Cameron Mathison, is back in Port Charles on General Hospital. The show’s done a great job of reintegrating the character into the canvas as evidenced by Drew’s reunion with Monica Quartermaine.
General Hospital’s Drew Cain Needs A Two Year Recap
However, there’s a lot that went down while Drew was away. We’re confident that the show’s scribes will delve into Drew’s reaction to what happened to those who were near and dear to him during his time away as Peter August’s (Wes Ramsey) captive.
But the one story the audience is truly yearning to see is Drew learning what happened to his best friend and childhood protector, Franco Baldwin (Roger Howarth). The two men discovered that they’d grown up together and were victims of Jim Harvey (Greg Evigan), the man who came back into their lives when they were grown men.
GH’s Drew Cain To The Rescue
Franco recalled that Jim had abused him as a child. He forced Jim to confess to what he’d done not only to him but to others, as well. Jim begged for Franco to turn him over to the cops instead of killing him. Things took a turn and Jim gained control — and started to strangle Franco. Luckily, Drew showed up in time to stop Franco from being killed. He shot Jim dead in order to save him, as Franco had saved him years earlier from Jim’s abuse.
After Drew was presumed dead, Franco was imprinted with Drew’s memories, causing a battle between Kim Nero (Tamara Braun) and Elizabeth Webber Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) as the former wanted Drew and the latter was married to Franco. Franco opted to resume his true identity and Kim eventually checked out of General Hospital and left town.
GH History 101
As Franco’s widow (and a former love interest of Drew’s when he thought he was Jason), Liz would be the best candidate to sit Drew down and inform him about Franco’s murder by Peter, Kim’s emotional troubles, and what else occurred during his time away from Port Charles. The emotions this conversation would bring up could provide the closure that viewers still need to see happen for Liz over the death of her beloved husband.
