As of late, GH spoilers have had Monica Quartermaine doing nothing more than worry about the sorry state of the family she married into over 40 years ago. As such, it’s hard to believe that, once upon a time, Monica was a much-in-demand femme fatale who so bedeviled an ex-husband (Jeff Webber, FYI) that he shot himself when he lost her loving.
But that was then; now, there’s a decided dearth of romance in Monica’s life…or is there? Surely we can’t be the only ones who see that magical spark whenever Dr. Q and Yuri the bodyguard (Cyrus Hobbi) cross paths.
And what are we to make of the fact that two have spent many a night together talking about the day they’ve experienced? Well, apparently Monica does most of the talking – Yuri’s a good listener.
Yuri is also incredibly considerate – see his remembering that Monica adores avocado on toast, and picking her up a few slices, just because – and he’s great with children, which is a bonus considering the number of grandchildren (biological and otherwise) that Monica loves to surround herself with.
Oh, and Yuri clearly appreciates a real woman; remember when Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) caught him giving Monica more than a once-over as she exited the manse? It was a prime example of, “hate to see you go, but love to watch you leave.”
Sure, there might be a few fans ready to disparage Monica as a cradle-robber – given that Yuri is assuredly a good few years younger than her (but remember her affair with Ned, anyone?) – but we take the stand that everybody deserves a little lovin’ no matter their age…and if Monica and Yuri truly enjoy each other’s company, and finds the other desirable, isn’t that all that matters?
Think this wild speculation could really happen? Is it just too crazy to work, or is it just crazy enough? Let us know in the comments section below.
