She’s not a doctor, but she plays one on TV. We’re talking about General Hospital star Kathleen Gati, who has been entertaining viewers for nearly a decade with her portrayal of the complicated Dr. Liesl Obrecht. Now, she’s the topic of Soap Hub’s latest installment of Wellness Wednesday.
Other GH actors including Eden McCoy (Josslyn), Cynthia Watros (Nina), and Laura Wright (Carly) have all been featured in Wellness Wednesday in the past. Now, Gati has graciously taken some time out of her busy schedule to chat with Soap Hub about how she stays fit both physically and mentally.
What is your go-to activity for health and wellness?
Kathleen Gati: Primarily, it’s hiking and if I can’t get out, then I love doing workout videos at home. I go back and forth between Bob Harper’s workouts and my favorite Australian couple, #TeamBodyProject.
Why is wellness important to you?
Kathleen Gati: Having spent my entire life studying ballet, dancing, and working out, I just don’t feel human unless I move!
How do you keep a healthy mind?
Kathleen Gati: I read uplifting, positive inspirational thoughts and some prayers every morning. I try to hike or work out as many days a week as I can. I do fun things when I’m not working, like watching movies and television shows with my husband, preferably funny ones, doing puzzles, baking, taking nice, long relaxing baths. [Note: Kathleen Gati has shared with Soap Hub in the past her love of cooking!] And watching sweet videos on animal rescues or adorable pets. Always makes me smile!
Do you have any wellness tips or tricks?
Kathleen Gati: No, because everyone has to do what makes them happy. We all have our demons to deal with, and darker days. Each person has to try what works for them! If you love tennis or jogging or dancing at home to music, do that. Other people love gardening or swimming. Or knitting, doing puzzles, or just watching TV. Whatever floats your boat. Try to move and try to eat right. And most importantly, laugh as much as possible!
