Soap Hub Performer of the Week is an ongoing series of articles in which editors pay tribute to a performer from each show, highlighting outstanding performances! For this week’s General Hospital pick, we honor Jon Lindstrom for his striking portrayal of not one, but two disparate characters.
We definitely felt the creepy factor when mild-mannered Kevin Collins was alone in his lab before being surprised by Lulu, who had a message from her mother, Kevin’s husband. Then, Lulu (Emme Rylan) took the time to elicit some free therapy from her psychiatrist stepfather regarding Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) being home now that Lulu has moved on with Dustin.
Lindstrom continued as the kind, talk-to, go-to when he caught Anna (Finola Hughes) and Finn (Michael Easton) going through items in his lab. Anna eventually told him what she was really doing there. She wondered if Alex was really Peter’s (Wes Ramsey) mother and if Alex’s memories had been implanted in her. Kevin agreed to help her get ahold of Faison’s medical records and Lindstrom showed us how kind Kevin could be.
Later, in the week, he showed us how crazed his jailed twin, Ryan, could be. The serial killer is in Pentonville for life but has quite a few privileges for someone who has committed such crimes. He can summon Ava (Maura West) at will at all hours of the day or night and even has amazing phone privileges.
And Lindstrom showed us what a clever man Ryan is, not falling for Ava’s divorce claims for a second. And as he showed her he knew all, he began to lose it as only Ryan can. He lashed out at Ava, screaming how much he loved her, but that he’ll always know when she betrays him. Ava sat there in shock and fear as Ryan raged at her, with that killer look in his eyes. It was something that could shake the best of us, and both characters earn Lindstrom the GH performer of the week title. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC.
