The General Hospital recaps for September 20 – September 24, 2021, feature a presumed dead loved one walking back into his family’s lives and so much more.
In aftermath of the explosion outside All Saints Church, Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) explained to the newly deemed Carly (Laura Wright) that – thanks to a tip-off from Madame Wu (Lydia Look) – he was able to arrange the rerouting from beneath their limo to the one ferrying Novak (Glenn Taranto) and Buscema (Bart Tangredi)
At the reception, the news of the explosion reaches Damian Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) who tips off Brando Corbin (Johnny Wactor) and Diane Miller (Carolyn Hennesy); without divulging the details, Brando informed Gladys Corbin (Bonnie Burroughs) that Novak wouldn’t be joining her after all…Carly and Jason share their first dance as husband and wife.
The air between Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth) and Olivia Falconeri Quartermaine (Lisa LoCicero) is thick with tension; he takes advantage of a momentary détente to gently nudge her to see things from Austin Gatlin-Holt’s (Roger Howarth) perspective…Willow Tait Chase (Katelyn MacMullen) catches Carly’s bouquet; she tells Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) that’s not an indication that they will get remarried.
Jasper “Jax” Jacks (Ingo Rademacher) offered Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) the use of his helicopter; Sonny arrives back at his abode just in time to catch Jason and Carly in a romantic clinch.
Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) placed a frantic phone call to Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms); she warns her sister-in-law of Peter August’s (Wes Ramsey) probable return to Port Charles…Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) cornered Peter on the edge of the Nixon Falls overlook.
After collapsing into Jason’s arms, Carly comes to, and happily reunites with Sonny; she and Jason update him on all that’s transpired since his presumed death – including the fact that they got married in order to solidify power; Sonny is impressed by the move.
After being wounded by a gun-toting Anna, Peter intimates that Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) is indeed alive and that he knows where he’s being held; Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) rushes to Anna’s side in order to provide backup. Peter throws himself into the waterfall; neither Anna nor Valentin believe that the water has claimed a victim.
At the reception venue, Willow and Michael share a dance and make plans to move the latter into the former’s digs…Maxie has Austin drop her at Monica Quartermaine’s (Leslie Charleson) abode, and tasks him with warning Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) about Peter; he relays the message to Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) and Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) in addition to Britt.
Sonny is reunited with his offspring, including step-daughter Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy); Jason takes his leave; Carly is severely affected by the exit…Michael, Willow, and Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) laid the past to rest…Despite receiving her divorce papers, Ava Jerome Cassadine (Maura West) hesitates to sign them.
Nina issued Phyllis Caulfield (Joyce Guy) a sincere apology, then wondered how she can get past the things that she’s done; Phyllis encourages her to move on, and take responsibility for her actions.
Through trial and error, Trina Robinson (Sydney Mikayla) deduces that Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl) and Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Alexander Chavez) have been working in tandem to harass and terrify Ava.
Jason told Britt about his wedding night that wasn’t; she’s disheartened to learn that the end of their nascent romance was all for naught; she fills Jason in on Peter’s resurfacing, and her mother’s kidnapping, but refuses his offer of help.
Jax tells Anna and Valentin that Sonny is alive, and that’s the information that Peter held over Nina’s head. Anna is informed that Chloe Jennings (Phoebe Kuhlman) has made her way to the US consulate in Crete.
Nina makes her way back to Port Charles, and confesses her trespasses to Maxie; Maxie treats Nina with understanding and compassion. She later summons Britt and Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner) to her apartment.
Ava bids Trina adieu, then heads to the Corinthos compound. After getting over her shock at seeing Sonny, she requests his and Carly’s assistance in telling Avery that she’s leaving town…Trina confides her theory concerning Esme and Spencer being Ava’s stalker to Cameron Webber (William Lipton); he agrees to help her out with the schemers…Kevin Collins (Jon Lindstrom) cautions Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma) to be wary of Esme.
Upon learning of Peter’s probably involvement in Liesl Obrecht’s (Kathleen Gati) disappearance, Scott vows to bring her home…Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy) asks for Liesl’s assistance on a top-secret project; she acquiesces – then reveals a concealed weapon which she uses to threaten her captor.
Carly and Jason reflect on the might-have-beens…Nina finds Sonny staring at the tombstone bearing his name; he blames her for the time he lost with his family, but he also recalls the love they shared in Nixon Falls.
Josslyn agrees to help Trina and Cameron investigate Esme and Spencer…Nik deludes himself into thinking that Sonny’s resurrection means Ava will forgo caving into her stalker’s demands; Esme is furious by the turn of events.
