The General Hospital recaps for July 4 – July 8, 2022, feature several characters incapable of getting out of their own way. Don’t they know how much simpler life can be?
General Hospital was preempted.
Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) informs Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) that he’s selling Crimson and gives her the right of first refusal. She overhears him discussing with Olivia Falconeri Quartermaine (Lisa LoCicero) the reason for the divestment – it’s an attempt to help Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) recoup her forfeited half of the Metro Court.
A war of the words escalates into a shoving match that sees Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy), Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl), and Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Alexander Chavez) tumbling into the Metro Court pool. Spencer and Cameron Webber (William Lipton) manage to make off with, respectively, a lock of Josslyn’s hair and a napkin dabbed with Carly’s DNA.
Damian Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) sings the praises of Society Setups to Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud). Cody Bell (Josh Kelly) continued to strongarm Spinelli; Spinelli makes a point of introducing Cody to his good friend Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard). Olivia offers Cody a job as the Quartermaine’s new stablemaster.
Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) tries to interest Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) in a career move – ditch the PCPD and let her sell him as the next singing sensation. Right when Chase comes around to the idea, Brook Lynn makes mention of how it will greatly benefit her.
After overcoming a bout of stage fright – thanks in large part to Gladys Corbin (Bonnie Burroughs), as well as the pills she scarfed prior to going before the camera – Sasha Gilmore Corbin (Sofia Mattsson) makes quite the positive impression on Home and Heart’s viewers. As her segment on the channel winds down, Sasha is chagrined to be asked to model a baby sling.
An overwhelmed Sasha confuses the doll placed inside the sling for Liam Michael and has to be talked down by Brando Corbin (Johnny Wactor). Selena Wu (Lydia Look) arrives on the scene and shuts down Home and Heart’s litigious-minded maven Haven de Haviland (Morgan Fairchild). Brando consents to have Sasha sectioned for 72 hours.
Nina broke the news of Carly’s folly to Sonny. Carly rejects Sonny’s offer to buy back her interest in the hotel. Drew cautions Carly that she’ll more than likely come to regret declining all the various bailouts… Cody made Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) and Willow Tait’s (Katelyn MacMullen) acquaintance; he charms the pair… Britt learns that Cody penciled her in as his emergency contact; she returns a misplaced belt buckle.
Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) lets Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy) in on Laura Collins’s (Genie Francis) plan to have him deported on the grounds of moral turpitude. Victor demands that Valentin “take care” of Laura… Laura warns a clearly smitten Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) to be wary of Valentin.
Kevin Collins (Jon Lindstrom) and Jake Webber (Hudson West) visit Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) at Shadybrook. Elizabeth continues to be greatly affected when the subject of her parents is broached; she later checks herself out of the clinic.
Gregory Chase (Gregory Harrison) and Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) lightly tease Chase over Brook Lynn’s proposed change of career. Opposite this, Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth) helps Brook Lynn see the error of her ways… Gregory and Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) spar over the former’s seeming lack of interest in taking the latter up on her offer to publish his opinions on The Invader.
Valentin doses Laura’s sweet iced tea, thinks better of his murderous intent, and arouses Laura and Kevin’s suspicions… Brook Lynn’s sincerity convinces Chase to give a singing career a chance… Olivia throws her support behind Cody when Ned appears leery at his hiring… Anna and Victor size one another up. Afterward, Anna hears back from that out-of-town clinic – Valentin stayed with them for one week before discharging himself.
Elizabeth attempts to pick up where she left off at the hospital, but Terry Randolph (Cassandra James) and Britt contend that proper protocol must be adhered to. Elizabeth likewise wants to continue with her and Finn’s romance. Outwardly, Finn’s thrilled by Elizabeth’s sudden about-face, but it’s clear that he’s concerned.
Alexis agrees to print Gregory’s critical OP-ED piece and the two make a wager – if the readers react favorably, then Alexis will entertain his suggestions on bettering The Invader; if the reaction is negative, then Gregory must keep his suggestions to himself.
